I met Seyed Inthiqab Mowlana (known as Inthi) at the end of April of 2018 through a Facebook housing page where my studio was posted for sublease.  We met in person shortly after to discuss a possible sublease.  He seemed like a very genuine guy and we got along right away.  He looked at my space and wanted it immediately, plus also offered to buy up all my furniture.  He said it was very convenient to him since he worked at Netflix and my studio was in walking distance of his work.  I didn’t give him a definite answer since I was still in the process of looking for a place to live.  A week went by and I still didn’t find a space.  We met again and at that point the sublease was in question, since I couldn’t find a place.  I felt horrible for going back on my word so I allowed him to stay at my place for the week I was gone on vacation.  He said his family was coming and he felt embarrassed he told them he had a place. I didn’t think much of it, and felt somewhat responsible and therefore allowed him to stay at my place for free.

When I came back from my trip I noticed he rearranged some of my belongings and had multiple boxes shipped and stored in my studio.  We stayed together in the space for another 2 weeks before we agreed to get a two bedroom together in the same apartment complex. As we found a two bedroom that we both liked we began the application process.  He asked to not be on the lease since he was applying for an additional workspace at the apartment complex and wanted to make sure he was approved for that, therefore he didn’t want to be on our two-bedroom lease until after the workspace was processed.  He said he was working as a subsidiary of Netflix and had his own editing company.  I moved forward with the application process for the two bedroom and got approved.  I placed a $3774 deposit down on the two bedroom on May 18th2018.  He said due to my good graces he would pay for the movers.  The movers never showed up and the excuses began.  I found it kind of odd but I moved forward with the move.  In addition, he said he already sent the funds that he owed me for the deposit and that it would take 3-5 business days to arrive.

June started to approach and rent was coming up.  I still did not receive the funds that he promised and now he was beginning to come up with stories about not having money for the next months rent.  He was at that time working with Smoove – E which I saw first hand.  Supposedly, a business agreement they had for a music video fell through, and he owed money to all the people he hired for the music video. He said that he paid them all off to keep his reputation and connections in good standing….the number he gave me was around 6k.  I have already paid rent for June at this point, which was a prorated amount of $1576.

Every day that went by there was another excuse as to why he couldn’t get me what he owed me.  He stated that his accountant on the east coast Ahmed would wire the funds through Western Union.  It took days for Ahmed process the transfer, already long overdue, and we went to a Western Union and nothing was under the MTCN number his accountant provided.  I was at this point getting very frustrated with Inthi Mowlana.  He told me he worked at Netflix and I asked him to take out a pay day loan asap.  He said he did the next day yet he would not show me the proof, and that it would take a whole day to sit in the account since it was over $500.  After that he resorted to his aunt in Anaheim and that she would deposit 3k in to my account…it never happened.

This guy put me on a 3 week chase for something I was never going to get. The stress and anxiety I dealt with for those weeks I cannot explain.  I was too naive to see the signs of his con and manipulation, by the time I did it was already too late.

If you come in to contact with this guy I urge you to stay away.  He will try to pull you in and con you with business opportunities and the connections he has in town, and if that doesn’t work he will play the victim to win you over.  He is very good at it and please do not underestimate his skill.  If you look up his name online you will see multiple other accounts of people recording their experiences with him. Please do not lend this guy money because you will never see it again.  It is best to keep your distance with him and not involve yourself with a con man.

Here are a few stories he will tell you;

1)   I worked at Disney, DreamWorks, and currently at Netflix

2)   He makes it seem that he is in good financial standing

3)   He says his father is very good at paperwork in case you want a business or non-profit set up quickly…. all in effort to get your information

4)   That he has an aunt in Anaheim that he can get money from

5)   That his mom is not in good health and is prone to strokes

6)   That he suffers from anxiety, depression, and has made suicidal attempts

7)   That his cousin stole his identity and ruined his name, which is why all the info about him online is currently there.

8)   That his ex girlfriend left him and that he is still heart broken.

9)   That his accountant/financial manager Ahmed has control over his money since he is not good at managing his money.
