NOW TO THE ORIGINAL REPORT THAT WAS FILED

International Profit Associates DON'T WORK FOR IPA NO MATTER WHAT! TOTAL WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, EFFORT. Buffalo Grove Illinois

I'm a college graduate and experienced sales person. I accepted an outside sales position with IPA (the title was "Senior Area Manager"--sounds important, right?). I had to pay the airfare to and from Chicago for a week of training (this was reimbursed after I made my first "sale").

The experience was terrible. The leads that were supposedly pre-set for me amounted to nothing more than random listings from the phone book. On several occasions I had repeated appointments with people who had died 4 and 5 years ago! Numerous other appointments were with companies out of business 3+ years. The few who had actually been called usually had told the person in Chicago that they were NOT interested--I got sent in anyway.

Gas is $4 a gallon, and I got run all over town for nothing. The sales I did make usually fell out, because of buyers remorse--heightened by an unsatisfactory BBB report and numerous complaints on this ripoff report site as well.

There are some nice people that work there, but the corporate attitude of IPA is really caustic, disrespectful, and nasty; this is partially responsible for their poor BBB rating, and is generally how they treat employees as well. The rest of the complaints are that they lie, cheat, steal, overcharge people, and usually provide no help whatsoever to the hapless businesses that hire their services. I actually thought that I was trying to help small businesses to grow and become more profitable, while hopefully making a good living. When I found out that the few dollars I made here came from exploiting businesses to no real benefit, it made me sick.

Back in the "old days" it was difficult to verify a company's reputation. You had to telephone the BBB and ask them if they had anything on such-and-such a company. In the world of the internet and electronic communications, it is far easier to check someone out before you do business. More people are doing this, which is good.

IPA seems to have grown in those awkward days before the internet. The senior executives will tell you about high closing and "run" rates. This is not the case today. More people are wising up to IPA's smoke and mirror approach before they sign the check. In the old days, more clients signed the contracts and only then found out what a poor deal it was.

I'm sorry I wasted my time working for this company. When I look at the pathetic income I finally made, I wish I'd have gone to work flipping burgers for Mc Donalds--I'd have made more money--seriously. And it would have been more honest work. Do NOT work for this company unless you're a masochist...or a crook.

There are many other business management consulting firms, and I cannot find ONE with a record and reputation as bad as IPA.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thu, May 01, 2008

My experiences working for IPA was about as equally bad as yours. If you scroll down, you an read some of my earlier postings from late summer and fall of last year. It was exactly a year ago this week when I was in their training class. There were 14 of us that completed the training the first week of May and by labor Day, all had left IPA.

Your experiences were the same as mine. Most of the "appointments" that I was given from the telemarketers were bogus. Either the business was closed, the owner was not at that location (or deceased) or the owner told the telemarketer they weren't interested. I had much better luck with appointments I set on my own. In fact after a month, I decided to call ahead in the morning before I went on one of their wild goose chases. About one appointment a week was good, but that at least saved me a lot of time and aggravation.

You are also correct that IPA's attitude toward their employees and customers is disrespectful and very rude. All they care about is how much money anyone can bring in to the company and nothing else. Try googling "IPA scam" and read some of those postings that come up.

You are correct that people are getting wise to IPA and their tactics thanks to this site and others. I think that the buzzards are beginning to circle as IPA is being sued by many of the people that they have taken. The RICO lawsuit is moving forward and it would be very interesting to see how that turns out. Already IPA is being investigated by some state attorneys general. It is only a matter of time before that company is shut down.

Oh, another note: Of the 25 or so in our initial training class, none of us are still working for this company...after 6 months. This should give some idea of the experience working for IPA. My recommendation is to quit before you start...and avoid the rush!
