Indiana Business College ripoff Lafayette Indiana
I applied, and got accepted for the Medical Assisting Program. I was happy to finally get the show on the road. After being in and out of college from having babies. Finally, I enrolled because of the small class atmosphere and smaller building that would be easy to get to my classes. Other than Ivy Tech State College, who was a lot bigger and annoying.
Everyone told me don't mess with Ivy Tech because of the financial aid dept. was not sure of a lot of finacial information. Hopefully they are allot better now. I would of gladly went back to that school after dealing with this situation.
OK, The teacher I had was a new teacher and didn't have a teachers license. That fine because the other teacher that worked at ivy tech was teaching at indiana business college and was a good teacher. This new teacher she new came in and they all had worked at the same clinic together at Lafayette Community Health center.
So you got this new teacher that came off ok but then when it came down to teaching and putting the chapter together to teach it. SHe just didn't have the skill. I felt sorry but all the class felt the same way, so 3 of us went to the Director and told him how we felt. We didn't want to waste our time and money on our future.
WHen they had told us that quote "TIme is Money and Wasted Time is Wasted Money!"
So I'm on the 11 or whatever chapter and the teacher sayed So how many read the chapter yet, THe teacher Responded "Don't worry I haven't read it yet Either." Wow i was in shock, Here it is a week into the chapter and the test if in a day. I was very disappointed. So the Director sat in the class to review her teaching. She was obviously very upset and was getting loud talking to the class, her face was red and told us that our answeres where Sloppy and INcorrect. Wow what a itch.
So I with drew all the way finishing in the first quarter i even got a award like every one and the first day they took my graduation picture. Well That didn't happen and sad so i have this picute LOL. But i'm not throughing it away. LOL
So i didn't owe anything but 94.00 back to the state plus the books i still have I won't sell them because i wouldn't recomment anyone to get your degree there For Medical Assisting.
I don't want my family to be getting care from graduated from there. Think about your grandmas or family trying to get the proper care. Plus the job now pays only a dollar less than what i would be making if i was a medical assistant.
Plus the teacher told us that we would only be making 10.and hour. So why spend all that money 3,000 a semester for bullshit i could teach my self at home, why pay a teacher and a school that can't teach right. I was lost from day one all the people in the class had below average scoring i my self had F's on every single test, like most of the people in the class.
Very disappointing and depressing when your trying to do the best you can for the future of your children. I was already losing money by not working and going to school, so i would of been behind. I'd rather be in the hole 94.00 than about 17,000. in the hole for what about a bunch of crazy horse crap.

It is a For profit institution. It is a shame that Indiana houses so many "Schools" like this one but we are one of the few states that has a business market for schools. That is why there are so many schools that say they are accredited but have their own accreditation body. It is there legal way of not being able to get sued. The sad thing is we don't find out until it is too late. That school has had a not good reputation for a long time. In fact they have been on the local news in Indianapolis for ripping people off. They have told people there credits are very transferrable and they aren't. Then they have told students that they are guaranteed work and a nice salary-just to get them in the door. Then after the fact they find out it is phony. She is right you wouldn't make much money as a Medical Assistant. That is a program you only want to take if your job pays for it. Otherwise it isn't worth it. I got set back two years in my education by going to their school in Indianapolis. I took them to court and got some justification out of it. The state of Indiana knows how they are and refuse to do anything about it. You should call the Indiana State Commission on Proprietary Education and ask to file a complaint. I bet they would gladly start the process with you, but they would make a mock out of your situation because they already know IBC has top knotch attorneys and whether you know it or not you have already signed a "disclaimer" signing over your rights. I wish I knew your number to tell you more about it. But the disclaimer states that their "credits may not transfer to other institutions", "our school is accredited by ACICS," (which is their own accrediting agency), and "our teachers have years of experience in the field." They are all disclaimers and it gets them off the hook legally when they go to court. That is awful. In a sense they are running a legal scam. It is ridiculous and one of these days they are going to get sued out of this world. I wish we could get a class action law suit because I know of a lot of people who would say they were scammed too. The owners are rick and they market to people who are underpriviledged and may be poor. I am not saying that you are, but that is how they market. Signed I wish I could have stopped you. You are still a step ahead of the game. Go back to Ivy Tech. I graduated and am not doing well at IUPUI. You will learn more at these schools and will pay less money. Isn't that funny!!
