I purchased a $250 Vanilla visa gift card from my local Shoppers drug mart on March 23rd 2012. Upon reaching home, I immediately went online to register the card with the website given at the back of the card. To my surprise, it displayed an error message saying that the card was invalid!

I went back to the Shoppers drug mart where I had bought the card, and the cashier told me to wait 1-24 hours for the card to activate. Then she later found out that the number on the receipt didn't match the number on the card. She informed me that this has been a problem with this company (Vanilla Visa) for quite a while and its their problem to sort out not Shoppers.

So after exactly 24 hours, as advised , I called the 800 number to register the card and to no luck it was still Invalid. So i decided to talk to a customer service representative, who told me that there are no records of my card and that I should scan the front and back of the defective card, the receipt and the back of the packaging in which the card originally came in, and that they'll get back to me.

I sent all of this to the email he provided the same day. I called back the next day to check if they had received the email, because they didn't call back as they said they would. One of the representatives I talked to put me on hold for 10 minutes and said the accounting officer is not around. Frustrated, I hung up and called the next day, same thing happened, they put me on hold and said they have to sort through a bunch of emails to get to mine, so they'll call back. Its been a day now and still no call.

Its been almost a week now since I bought the defective vanilla visa card. Just two days ago, the company contacted me and informed me that a new card will be arriving the next day through fedex. I filed two reports against them and sent numerous emails to them, so I'm guessing that sped up the process.

The customer support provided behind the card is useless, so i'll suggest contacting Incomm Canada directly.
When the card arrives today,i'll be checking to see if the card is valid, if not they'll be getting more complaints from me.
