About a month ago I was phoned, and the person asked if I would like to be listed on thier website for free. I asked if we were to be billed at any time for anything, or if this was just a "trial" period. The man said no, it's absolutely free. I said OK, and he put another person on the phone to verify our information. I asked again if there were ever to be any charges. The second man said no also. --

Now, I just got an add-on on my telephone bill for a total of $32.57 (including taxes) for Liberty Online Services billed from ILD Teleservices. I called the ILD toll-free number (1-800-433-4518) demanding an explanation. They said I agreed to the monthly billing arangement and played the "recorded" authorization. You hear the man explain that I was signing up for a trial period of services, which afterword I would be billed $29.95, and he asks if this would be OK. You hear my voice say "yes". I know for a fact I never was told this. The only possible explanation is that they used the "yes" I gave when confirming my contact information, and pre-empted it with the charge information that they never spoke to me about. --

I was furious and demanded that they remove the charges. They would not. I asked to speak with a supervisor and threatened legal action, and then they came back to the phone allowing the removal of the charges, and I was given a confirmation number. I spoke with my telephone provider (SBC), and they put a note on my account about the challenge of the charges, they were very helpful. We will see if the credits ever appear.
