The USB ports on my HP Pavilion 15-V063-US laptop didn't work. Originally it didn't power on. After I had called for warranty repair (9 months old) it came on and I ran diagnostics and everything passed but USB failed and it had a CMOS error message which is either BIOS or a dead battery on the motherboard. I copied all my files to CD since the USB ports were dead and sent it for repair. The day before it was supposed to arrive back repaired I got a call that it was economically unfeasible to repair. They found corrosion under the keyboard and claimed water damage. This laptop is kept on a docking station or sometimes at night on the bed. It never had water damage. Eight years ago I had a computer that was only kept on the docking station with a screen problem and they claimed water damage. I contacted the AG of the State of California where HP corporate is located and HP offered to repair. Apparently "water damage" is the fallback excuse to not make repairs under the one year warranty. When my computer is returned it better work as it did when I sent it to them with all operational except the USB ports. I won't buy HP for myself or my company anymore.
