I never thought that in the United States of America such an injustice was possible and I have endured this misery and despair for over two year. Its humiliating to apply for unemployment benefits, but with the scarcity of jobs, in today's troubled economy (Recession) it is necessary! The larger issue is that the Agency for Workforce Innovation have lost all sense of propriety and is unwilling to admit fault or a mistake. They have been getting away with murder and now they are acting as if it is their right to abuse their power. The argument that, if you haven't done anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about Loses its legitimacy when the powers that be can alter what is right or wrong at will.
Governor there is good and evil in the world and I pray that you have the wisdom to know the difference. My life has been turned upside down. As you can imagine, I have been overwhelmed by these difficulties. I am doing my best to cope with the anxiety over an uncertain future. I know someday Christ will come again to cast out all evil and injustice. But I am dealing with a life-and-death situation today.
I will start at the beginning and tell my side to the best of my ability. I have no understanding of unemployment law, but I do know right from wrong. I started working as a government contractor on contract with the United States Environmental Protection Agency in Gulf Breeze, Florida back in May of 1993. The first contract was with Computer Sciences Corporation. The contract changed companies many times over the years. (Technology Planning and Management, Inc. August 1993, Computer Data Systems, Inc. June 1994 OAO, Inc. June 1996). The last contract was with Computer Sciences Corporation starting in April of 2001 and ending in January of 2007. Do to business requirements my position was eliminated (outsourcing).
I started looking for work in the Pensacola area and was becoming very disenchanted. I was unaware of the lack of any jobs that paid a living wage. I was told that you can make a good living in sales in Pensacola. So I went out and talked to some Automobile dealers. One of my stops was at Hill Kelly Dodge and I had a discussion with Mr. Tim Poppell. In that conversation I told Mr. Poppell that I had no sales experience and would he consider giving me a two week test period and after two weeks if things did not work out that there would be no bad feelings. He said yes.
I was told that they would pay me minimum wage. I told him that I had to report that income to unemployment and Mr. Poppell said I would not if I were you. After about two weeks, Mr. Poppell called me over and said that it was not working out and he was going to let me go. We shook hands and I thanked him for the opportunity. I never thought that he would lie and I would be disqualified for unemployment benefits. If I had any idea that this was going to happen. I never would of asked for the two week test period. So help me God.
I do not understand, that if what I say was not true? Why did Mr. Poppell not play the recordings. They record everything in the showroom. I am telling you the truth. I have maintained since day one that I did not quit. Where is the sense of responsibility? Where is morality? Where, I ask you is justice. Where in this process are my civil and constitutional rights? I did not quit.
I did not understand for a long time why Hill Kelly Dodge would lie. But I found out why. Its because there unemployment insurance rates would go up exponentially. So Hill Kelly Dodge is protecting its monetary interest. Justice is based on equality but business like Hill Kelly Dodge and Agency for Workforce Innovation have worked hand in hand to squeeze the daylights out of working people. Stripping them of there civil and constitutional rights. It's a total sham. State government has become the enricher of the already rich. Protecting the bottom line and it weakens consumer protections. That's the stuff for the ordinary folks. So the rich, as they say, get richer.
Why did I not have any help? I went to Northwest Florida Legal Services for help and they would not assist me. I called almost every attorney in the Pensacola phonebook and was informed that the legal cost would be greater then any unemployment compensation benefits I may get. But Hill Kelly Dodge, a multimillion-dollar corporation gets free legal representation from the State of Florida. Giving Hill Kelly Dodge the upper hand in a already unequal playing field. For years the State of Florida has passed laws that tilt the playing field in favor of the very rich, the powerful and the politically connected at the expense of the wage-earner.
I had to take all the money out of my 401K to pay my mortgage and living expenses and had to pay 20% in taxes and penalties and now I have to pay over 3,000 dollars in more taxes to the Federal Government. All because Hill Kelly Dodge lied. This is disgraceful! I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown because of the shameful behavior of Hill Kelly Dodge and the Agency for Workforce Innovation . I have lost so much weight that people think I have Aids.
Prior to the existence of their wrongdoings stated above. I was already in a state of psychological depression as a result of the sudden and serious illness of my child has well as the destruction of my condominium, car and personal belonging by Hurricane Ivan. The hardest part is the loss of photos and memories. In many ways time seems frozen. I am sick of living in a state of abject fear. This process has taken over a year. I have been treated in a shocking and unjust manner. So I am very upset and under emotional stress and intense anxieties generated by a unequal and unfair nightmarish process. I did nothing wrong, but I am paying the price. All I am asking for is freedom from distorted facts and misinformation and the tactics of presuming guilt from a unequal and unfair playing field.
Our legal process is predicated upon the conviction that we are presumed innocent. In this context, however, we are presumed to be guilty and mechanisms to prove that you are not, is gone. Gone is the presumption of innocence. Gone is the right to habeas corpus. The process has been cruel, inhuman and degrading. The message I am getting is you do not matter. I have endured over a year of misery, unwarranted aggravation, frustration and worry that Mr. Tim Poppell (Hill Kelly Dodge) and the Agency for Workforce Innovation disgraceful behavior has cost me and my family. Social justice is based on equality and respect for human rights. This is about right and wrong. This is about doing the right thing. The saddest part is that I will lose what I worked for all my life,
because Mr. Poppell (Hill Kelly Dodge) Lied! I hope that Hill Kelly Dodge knows that there are consequences for their actions. If not this life, then surely in the next. I did not quit! Right is right. The present situation is not only wrong, it is immoral and unjust and possibly illegal.

Mr. President, there is good and evil in the world and I pray that you have the wisdom to know the difference. My life has been turned upside down, as you can imagine. I have attempted suicide while hospitalized I was diagnosed with severe depression, panic attacks, anxiety disorders and adjustment disorders. Taken together these medical diagnoses are termed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder because of the treatment from Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation. The repressed memories of being molested as a child are now burned into my mind. Now from memory, I can draw them to a T. Thanks to the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation.
The dysfunctional Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation is run by insiders, for their benefit, in a way that few understand. People like myself are simply sheep waiting to be fleeced. It is shameful and disgusting to be treated in such a fashion. Anger does not even begin to describe what I feel. The value of life in Florida is measured not by one's character, but by the size of his or her bank account. I have learned the hard-way how insensitive Florida's State Government has become. Why is it so hard for the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation to do what's is right?
I am known for my straightforwardness, honesty and integrity. I believe in the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you have them do unto you. Hill Kelly Dodge engaged in unbridled greed, high chicanery and grossly unethical conduct. The truth about greed is a lack of honesty. The saddest part is that I will lose what I worked for all my life, because their actions. The argument that, if you haven't done anything wrong, you didn't have anything to worry about Loses its legitimacy when Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation can alter what is right or wrong at will.
