Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We bought a 46" LCD Samsung HDTV from HH Gregg and were talked into buying the extended warranty for a hefty $499.00 price tag. This warranty was going to be "wonderful"; "REST ASSURED" GE has you covered!! What a big joke that is. We had our TV exactly 13 months when all of the sudden; it just ceased to work (9/07). We were then on the fast track (ha, ha) to getting a replacement or repair. GE then contacted a local company who "fixes their broken electronics", who called us a week later and "triaged" our TV over the phone. Came to our home about 3 days later, and low and behold that part didnt work. So we then have to wait on "another part"; which they think might fix the problem. Well; that part we eventually found out was on back order with no ETA (estimated time of arrival). So we then (after multiple phone calls on our part), get to talk to the local electronic company, GE, HH Gregg customer service, and Samsung over the next 8 weeks. It is now 11/29/07 and we still have no TV nor do we have any idea when we will get one. All of these companies give you the run around; all of these companies have NO idea what the other is doing so you start all over with every phone call. We were given case numbers, reference numbers, etc. only to find out when you call back that they dont even know who you are. But no matter what; we kept getting the same pleasant message "you are going to get an exchange for you TV". I guess the main question is WHEN?

It is pretty sad that you pay $4,000.00 for a TV, $500.00 for an extended warranty ....only for your TV to go out in 13 months and you spend over (well) 8 wks and counting for a replacement....and still no one can tell you when you will get it. One thing is for sure....we have bought our last item at HH Gregg and we have definitely bought our last extended warranty from GE.

So, was this a Samsung or a GE product? I can't tell from your story. If this is a GE product, I can't stress enough the following: DO NOT BUY GE PRODUCTS! GE products are well known for low quality and I can guarantee that they will die on you sooner than expected. I have had the following products made by GE and ALL of them died within two years from the date of purchase: A computer monitor, computer speakers, two mice, two stoves, a fridge, many phones and answering machines, many remote controls, lights, a washer and dryer set, three toasters, a CB, power chargers, two microwaves, an electric can opener, and three alarm clocks. ALL OF THESE PRODUCTS QUIT WORKING WITHIN 730 DAYS OF PURCHASE. People, these people are responsible for putting engines on airplanes. If they can't get basic home appliances right, would you really put your life in their hands by flying somewhere?

Misie, I have noticed your name on here a couple of times. I am truly sorry for the trouble that you have had with the G.E. Service Plan. What the sales associates tell the consumers is what was told to them. You said that the TV was thirteen months old before you had any trouble with it. Did you know that the manufacturers warranty was only a twelve month warranty? With out the service plan the manufacturer would have told you that the tv was no longer under warranty and there would have been nothing that they could do. With the service plan you can still get a new tv. Both companies have an obligation to help you and they will.
