I purchased a Dell 4500S desktop which came with Windows XP, Home Edition, pre-installed. I proceeded to install all of my necessary software required by my business. Everything installed fine and it all works except my Hewlett Packard 3300C, ScanJet scanner/copier.

I called Hewlett Packard and they told me that they would send me the software I needed for Windows XP for $9.95. I ordered it and put the charge on my VISA. It arrived promptly, I had a successful installation, but, it still will not copy or scan. It tells me that it can't communicate with my scanner and to make sure I have it turned on and connected properly. All of the above is done correctly.

I went to Microsoft's website and looked at everything Windows XP supports and this scanner isn't listed. I now have thrown away over $140.00, counting that $9.95 I recently paid, and don't have a working piece of equipment. I feel that if HP can't get this scanner to work with Windows XP, then they should compensate all of us for a new one or at least issue a substantial credit voucher for a HP that will work with XP.
