In Aug.2001, I purchased a Hewett-Packard 2200c scanner from Target Stores. This scanner was packaged, of course, with scant info on the box. When it was set up by a computer technician there was no instruction book with this, just an extremely large printed sheet with both English and probably Spanish. Nowhere, but nowhere, did it give a warranty. About a month ago, I asked this technician to recheck the installation of this scanner as I thought that perhaps I was not doing something correctly that it would NOT operate correctly. The computer would not recognize it. Upon checking, I was totally dismayed to read that this scanner only had a 90 day warranty, and this was tucked up in some of the software help section. The technician says that there is nothing wrong with the installation of the software or my computer, and has to be in the scanner itself. I only bought this scanner to enlarge and scan music for some volunteer workwhich I do at a nursing home, so I feel that I have thrown away the money which I spent and cannot afford to replace. This not only makes me very angry, but completely destroys my faith in what is supposedly a reputable company. I have my sales slip, but Target is not going to rectify this. Can you help?? Thank you/

People need to read sales receipts and packaged instructions much more carefully. Do things for yourself. Don't always expect somebody else to do everything for you. Lazy citizens are killing this nation.

I read the complaint about the defective scanner, I understand your frustration. Target and it's policies cannot be held responsible for the quality of the products that it sells. On the back of the reciept of your purchase you should have read an exchange/return policy. And it clearly states that all returnes must be made within 90 days and some items must be returned with all accessories and original package. If you follow the guidlines onthe back of your receipt you should have no problem. If the item is out of the 90 day period, you need to go after Hewlett Packard for their defective product. Target does no have the resources to test and check every item they sell for quality. It is your job as the consumer to do more research before making an expensive purchase.
