I have become the latest victim of Hertz car rental scam at the Tegel Airport in Germany. I paid $79 for rental through auto Europe for three day rental. I then rented a GPS upon arrival for 60 EUR. When I returned the car the receiver checked the car and told me everything was fine, full tank and no damage. I took the car for 6 more hours and returned the car before 6.00am. Again, clean car no damage and no scratches. Hertz is taking $480 from my account claiming damages to the car from my use though there was no damage to the vehicle whatsoever.
As a gold member of Hertz, I am rather disappointed that the corporate office would allow this type of behavior to go on unchecked. I pin this stealing behavior squarely on the shoulders on the management of Hertz because employees behaviors reflect the tone of management.
Don't ever rent from Tegel airport Hertz. Those people are thieves and most importantly, don't rent from Hertz anymore. The deals are meant to bring you in to be scammed. I have disputed the payment with my bank and I am opening a facebook account for Hertz scammed customers to chronicle their experiences. Shame on John Tague, Tom Kennedy, Jeff Foland & Co for allowing these behaviors to continue.
I am contacting a number of law firms to investigate the potential for class action lawsuit. Stay tuned
