This is a testimony to my families experience with Hercules Moving Systems AKA Cardinal Moving Systems. If considering hiring these people please take a moment to read this before doing so.

We hired Hercules to move our household belongings as well as two vehicles from Idaho to Kauai. The first vehicle I drove to Seattle myself to put on the boat and had no problems. The second vehicle I had picked up at the house by a company they hired to transport the vehicle. When the company arrived at the port with our vehicle, Matson had no ID shipping number to put the vehicle on the boat which Hercules told me they had provided to Matson. In addition to that Matson had not received payment to ship the vehicle which was also supposed to be arranged by Hercules via the credit card number I had given to Hercules.

During the pack out of the house hold belongings things seemed to be going fine for the most part. We did incur about $1,700.00 of additional charges from them that were not in our “ binding quote “ but with half of our things on the truck and having to catch a flight the next day we felt we had no choice but to pay these “ fees. “

When they were finished with the pack out Hercules came to me and asked me to sign off on their “Packing Inventory List. “ Upon reviewing the list I noticed that the Company name on the top of the list was not Hercules but Cardinal moving systems. I brought it to the gentlemen attention that this was wrong and he laughed and stated “good thing you caught that, your stuff could have wound up anywhere.” Needless to say I was disappointed at this time as well as disgusted by the numerous cigarette butts that were thrown in my driveway and in front of my home.

About two weeks after our arrival to Kauai I received a call from Hercules telling me that my stuff was sitting at a port in Seattle and would not be shipped until they had a physical delivery address. This took me by complete surprise due to the fact that I had made it very clear to our sales representative that we had not secured a rental as of yet but would let him know the address as soon as possible. He assured me this would not be an issue and also assured me that if need be they would store our belongings for up to thirty days.  Never the less they were not putting our things on a boat until they had an address which we raced around to provide and approximately one month later our belongings arrived three days after they were supposed to.

The day the delivery gentlemen arrived on island (as they fly over from Oahu) they actually called me and asked for the delivery address! I was amazed that they didn’t have it due to the fact that they could not ship our goods without it!

Upon arrival at our home the gentlemen informed me that they would have to make two trips to the port because the truck Hercules provided was not big enough for all of our stuff. They stated they needed to get to the port before it closed and asked if they could place our belongings on the front porch in order to get the other stuff. At this time they also advised me that they were in a hurry because they had to fly back to Oahu by 7:30 and the other job they had for that day took a lot longer than expected.

Upon hearing all of this I elected to help them unload the truck in order to not have our belongings on the front porch. We do get forty inches of rain a year here! While my nine year old son and I helped unload, they asked my wife if she could cross off the inventory numbers as they called them out.

While unloading my wife noticed the original packing inventory list had been altered severely with a black marker. The movers advised me they had not made the alterations and that nothing should have been different.  Also while unloading the gentlemen informed me that the “ inventory numbers had not been taped on as they should have been and so a lot of items did not have numbers on them and that this is the worst packing job they had ever seen and that they felt sorry for us.” We did the best we could to make sense of this mess they had created in order for them to get the second load.

When returning with the second load, they asked again if myself, my nine year old son, and wife could help which we did. During this process they brought out two paintings that we had never seen before. I let the gentlemen know that these were not our paintings, that we had never seen them. Upon hearing that we had never seen them they asked “Would you like to keep them anyway?”  We informed them that we would not like to keep the paintings.

After the truck was finally unloaded the moving team asked if they could borrow my tools to put my son’s bed together because the company did not provide them with tools even though they were contracted to put the bed together. Reluctantly I loaned them the tools while my wife, my son, and I continued to place boxes in the rooms they belonged.

Ten minutes later the gentlemen comes down stairs to inform me “they lost the hardware to the bed and that this was the hardest piece of furniture he had ever put together.” Again, I dropped what I was doing and went upstairs, found the hardware, and my son and I put the bed together as my wife continued to move boxes while one gentleman worked on plane reservations over the phone with his boss and the other folded blankets.

During all this time we discovered approximately $ 3,000.00 worth of broken items and upon discovering them the moving team again informed that the packing job was terrible and proceeded to tell me how it should have been packed. In addition to that Hercules and I came to the conclusion that there were and still are a total of seventeen missing boxes. The gentlemen left with promises of a phone call from customer care the following business day to get this resolved. The call never came.

In addition to the call never coming the next day we spent the entire next day removing their moving blankets from our belongings because they had run out of time. I still have about thirty of their blankets at my house.

Since then I have been getting the run around from their so called “customer service”   team. They have promised multiple times to provide me with the altered paperwork so I could fill out a missing items claim as accurately as possible. It has been over a week and despite my numerous attempts to call as well as numerous e mails, I have heard nothing back from these people. PLEASE!!! SAVE YOURSELVES THE HEADACHE!!!
