different companies? I've been reading the reports about Grolier Books and have noticed that all the Canadian customers are satisfied and all the American customers are disastisfied. Being a Canadian customer who has never had any problems with Grolier, I'm just wondering if maybe these are two different companies operating under the same name but in separate countries? Maybe this is something that Rip-Off reports should investigate before any consumers get the wrong idea about a company that could prove to be an upstanding service provider?

I too have been shafted by Grolier on there Baby's First Disney Books series. After the 4 books at special interductory price with FREE bookshelf and 4 books at the regular price ended up costing me over $80. i wrote them a letter re: the poor way they run there business and my personal dissatifaction and wishes to cancel my account along with a check paying off any money due. They respounded by sending me more books and another bill, which told me that they didn't bother with the letter and but were more than happy to take the check. So i sent back my latest shipment and again asked that they cancel my account to wich they respounded with a letter of their own(form letter i am sure) about how when i signed my contract, i agreed to purchase 4 more shipments at the regular price. When i signed what?????? I signed no contract! and to boot, at the end of the letter it claims and I quote "We value you as a customer -- and want you to be 100% satisfied with our service!" well that is just rediculous! And of course they include no telephone number, only their address and website for payment. I am horrified to learn today about all the other families being ripped-off by these scam artists. So what can we do about it??????

I have been a customer of groilers for years and yes I have had simuler probles BUT!!!! with ever order you recive ther is always a letter re explaining the offer , You must read them , or you see it does become a problem. Every Previw book has a 10-7 day limit and yes they do reemburise you for shipping and handling fees , , NOW if you are really not interested in going on with the offer the just put it back in the oringial box it came in (keep the free items) write re turn to sender and drop it back in the mail , keep all the paper work in tact!,now you have to read all the paper work that comes with it if you do deside to continnue. this is where the Biggist Problems and Mistakes Happen, READ THE FINE PRINT !!! if you dont respond within 7 -10 days they assume you want to continue on and this will happen , so read the letters to the tee. as far as unwanted items ,if its a set or series they will send it till you CANCEL , and you dont pay if you dont want it , and always keep a copy of all correspondes to groiler , .

I starting recieving grolier books about 3 years ago. Now they send me calenders and ornaments that I never ask for and when I try to return them they tell me that i did not send them back or I am unable to find an address. I also started recieving bills for stuff I never recieved. Something needs to be done about that company before they rip off to many inocent people.
