I allowed my son to use my credit card to become a member of Gold's Gym in 2004.  I signed the membership form.  The Discover Card payment was to be drawn from had an expiration date of 01/08.  In 2006 I tried to cancel membership.  I was told I was unable to do so because the membership was not in my name.  Billing continued through part of 07, then stopped.  I thought membership was in fact cancelled as I had called Discover Card Services and requested they no longer honor this automatic transaction.

I was contacted by a Gold's Gym representative in January 2008 asking me for the number on the back of my newly issued credit card.  I did not provide the number stating I did not wish to have membership renewed.

In March 2008 Gold's Gym began submitting monthly billing for a membership that I did not want!  I contacted Discover again, again I was told, "since I signed for a membership for my son, he had to be the person to cancel the contract."  Discover continued to disburse money to Gold's Gym.  Again I called Gold's Gym and stated I did not want to authorize payments from my Discover Card, again was told they needed a letter from the member, I was not authorized to make changes or cancel membership.

In November 2010, I called Discover again to have payments stopped.  I ended up closing my account with Discover as a last resort to the monthly billing I have been paying for years to Gold's Gym for a membership that I don't use or want!

This membership has cost me a lot more than the monthly fees Gold's Gym has taken from me. As I have been out of work several times through the past 5 years, my Discover has fallen behind, interest and late fees have been added all for a membership I have tried for several years to try to cancel!

It's been a nightmare!

Why hasn't your son cancelled his membership in the past six years?

Such a simple solution, and yet, you've taken all of these drastic measures! Six years!

This report seems to be missing any mention of your son trying to cancel HIS membership.
