I had to report this online university scam.  I saw someone I know in a photo (who I will call "F") with a PhD from this "university".  When I researched the school, Gloval Oved Dei Seminary University (GODSU), I found that they are an online school.  It claims to offer certificates in ministry, non-profit, and entrepreneurial studies.

The parent company is Global Bible Institute based in Florida.  There is a photo on the site of a woman who they claim is the vice-chancellor named Dr. Diane Moore Eubanks.  There aren't any thorough descriptions of the classes they offer, falling only under the titles of "Theology" and "Missiology".  Those classes are also online. To apply, you fill out a form from the site and send it in for someone to contact you.

The reason I was suspicious of this school is because I know that "F" did not finish undergraduate school.  But he had on a cap and gown in the photo and was with an older man who looked like a professor from the school, who was handing him the certificate.  I already sensed something was probably shady about it, because I have known "F" to rip off people and has run several financial scams. He also tries very hard to be seen with well-known people and celebrities in an attempt to appear to be a celebrity himself.

Further internet research including the GODSU facebook page revealed that they have a program that awards "Honorary" degrees.  To get an "Honorary" degree from them, it says on their site that a candidate has to meet several qualifications that waive the usual rigor of study that is undertaken by a regular PhD candidate, including pastoring a church or serving the community in an outstanding way for at least 10 years.  I found that is very easy to get this honorary PhD. First, the facebook page announces: "Do YOU know someone that has done outstanding work in the community for over 10 years and deserves such an honor? If so, please contact me today! Would your brand or mission to serve others benefit you by having Dr. before your name? Would you financially support an institution who assists qualified candidates to achieve their honorary masters and doctoral degrees? Contact us today! [email protected] // Mention that you saw this opportunity on Social Media!" I gathered from this and other similarly-worded posts that you basically send them an inflated self-description and pay them some money to get the degree printed.  The "graduations" are held throughout the year and they solicit participants to apply for the "degree" and receive them at a fake "awards ceremony" typically held at a hotel conference room. All you have to do is show up.

The people who receive this honorary doctorate can then call themselves "Dr." and they are given out easily without the recipient doing the usual years of academic study in a field that earning a real degree requires.  Not to mention, the textbook description of an honorary doctoral degree is one that is awarded to world leaders, famous artists and performers, and other established well-known leaders.  There are very few people world-wide who have been given an honorary doctorate from a real university.

An obscure on-line company cannot award an "Honorary" doctorate.

Further, I see that the acquaintance I call "F" is also using the title Dr. when he makes appearances to talk about projects he is involved in under a company he formed that sponsors other speakers and experts on finance.  I don't know how much of this he is actually doing, but he has a history of schemes.  This person is NOT a PhD, but is publicly using the "Dr" title and that is why I decided to write about this.  It is an insult to those who work hard to actually earn PhD's and does not qualify the people who use this fake degree to make themselves sound good, as real academics.

There were other things I noticed about their websites: They have two facebook pages: OURGODSU, and the other is Global Oved Dei Seminary which has not been updated in one year.  The link does not work to one of their sites, www.globalodsuniv.

In summary, the online school is a scam that takes money for a degree that people can use as a fake social-climbing title and has NO accreditation.  It appears to be run by a small private company with a short operational history and no one's ever heard of it.

This person does not know what he's talking about.  And doesn't know anything about the honorable people involved in the Global Oved Dei Seminary and University (GODSU).  All of the comments are made out of ignorance.  Any judgment based on opinion without all the facts and reflecting universal laws can be considered hatred.  There is no truth in this person's comments about this honorable institution GODSU.

It's Still a Scam

I don't need to read this rebuttal.  All these doctorates are pieces of paper that are not earned.  There is nothing "prestigious" or "honorary" about them.

To tell people that they have earned a legitimate title and can use one of these titles from Global Oved Dei is fraud.  They have no power.  An honorary doctorate is received from an accredited university and does not earn one the "Dr." title, which some people who have gone through these fake reception ceremonies from this scam are actually using publicly.

All this rebuttal constitutes is a rehash of the public relations statements on their website and Facebook pages. It is very insulting to real Ph.D.'s who spent years and financial investments actually achieving this degree.  It's still a scam.
