I came across this review after receiving a Furla purse I purchased yesterday through Gilt.
I had been really looking forward to getting my purse, so imagine my disappointment when I opened the box and saw what poor quality the product was. I know the company swears up and down these bags are genuine Furla, but I have trouble believing Furla would put their name on a cheap looking, feeling, and smelling bag.
When I put this bag next to my BCBG purses that I recently purchased, (that I paid a comparable price for to the Furla bag, they were perhaps an additional $50 more), the quality difference is immediately obvious. The BCBG purses look, smell and feel like quality leather handbags. The Furla bag from Gilt, well, kind of looks like my purse's sad cousin, twice removed, from the third world.
There is no question this bag is a reproduction. It may not be the worst fake in the world, but whoever in China or Eastern Europe is making them certainly shouldn't be patting themselves on the back for being a master of replicating Furla bags, either.
I was more fortunate than the poster above, in that they at least offered to give me a credit, but I really would have preferred to receive my money back, because I really don't feel comfortable buying any more purses through Gilt.
If two people took the time to post about this online, we have to assume many others have had the same experience and didn't have the time or inclination to voice their disappointment. This is a retailer who sells bags that sell for several thousands of dollars. I certainly hope those items are not replicas as well.
