This's part of a missive I posted on another site. It too, was dealing with Gibson Trust. One of their contribuitors was relating how the Florida A.G.s office reportedly said "nothing can be done, because they're out of business". Interestingly, the state corporation information shows Gibson as being "active".

How strange? NOT!

Florida has always been a mecca for fly by night scam-o organizations. So the Attorney General of Florida can do nothing, huh? "Gibson Trust" is registered in the state of Florida, and on the registration form are the officers, directors, and 'registered agent". Looks like it's an O'Toole family enterprise.

I guess this issue illustrates just how the state of Florida just lets people walk away from shady businesses that fail. WHY do they even bother to register corporations in their state?

This is not the first episode I've seen of a Florida Corp. just vanishing without the state apparently showing any concern. I have had like problems with businesses incorporated in the state of Florida. That's why I'm really familiar with their site that discloses registrations. (Hah!...for all the good it does!) If the attorney general of FL had any balls he'd go after the O'Toole bunch and some of the others that use Florida as their haven from legal action. But then, again, the freedom from any meaningful legal action forms an incentive for businesses to locate and/or incorporate in their state,eh?
