Now, let me see here. Now my husband and I have been with GEICO for almost 7 years. Our ages are 34 and 41, and neither one of us have ever had an accident. Other people here claim to have had 3 accidents and their rates went down? That's very fishy... We have had the same car for 4 of the 7 years, a brand new 2000 (when we bought it) Chevy Cavalier. Although our rates have been the same, they have never went down. Either the rates are substantially higher here in Florida or the people who claim their insurance costs went down are lying.

Which is it? Any GEICO employees care to respond? I have to admit I am very satisfied with GEICO, excellent customer service, excellent roadside assistance (my battery died a few months ago and I needed a jump start), and the ability to pay online is wonderful. My only complaint with them is in doing business with scam artists.

But... We haven't had a CLAIM! As a matter of fact in all my 25 years of driving I have never had an accident or a claim. My husband has not had an accident in his 12 years of driving. I would have to see it to believe it that anybody with 3 accidents rates went down...

My name is Nicole and I work For GEICO. I am licensed in the state of FL. I love my company and we do well selling and maintining insurance in FL. What the previous agent stated about the renewal discount is correct. The one thing to remember is that insurance is the law of large numbers. So unfortunately your perfect driveing record is being balanced maybe with someone who had a good driving record and now has a ticket or an accident. The other aspect to keep in mind is that there are very low limits of liability in FL and when you carry higher limits it does cost more. The best thing to also look at is local politics, see who in the goverment there is willing to overhaul insurance in FL. There are good law abiding citizens who pay there insurance and then there are others who dont. Know that you are doing what is right.

As far as the training goes Geico does provide an excellent sales training program. My name is Victor De Jesus and I started working in the Woodbury office and then transferred to our new Buffalo office. I must admit that it can be a challenging environment but as long as you meet your goals and/or have a strong work ethic you should never have a problem. That is also true in any company you work for. When I moved to the Buffalo office Geico paid for all my relocating expenses. They have done a lot for my family. For those claiming dissatisfaction and the any lawyer attempting to represent anyone, you first check what the circumstances are. Chances are they were not meeting their goals. Geico also gives a full detail of all jobs so that you can make sure that is the job you would want to accept. Geico in my opinion is one of the best companies to work for and when you are not performing at your best they have programs put in place to help you develop yourself.

Justin, That was the most responsible and professional report that I have seen here on ROR. Whether or not it was a rip-off or a fraud... you are probably right. Your response though leads to my belief that someday this site can be used as a useful tool between companies and consumers. I seem to remember a couple of years ago that there was an issue in CA where because of the high risk ratings and stuff that there were loopholes where some people got rates lower than excellent drivers. It had something to do with the cost being so much that some bad drivers couldn't get coverage so the state mandated some high risk people be given lower rates. There were actually drivers reported to trying to ruin their record to get the better rates. Now, I understand that this was state mandated and not the fault of any particular agencies. It just shows though the complexity of the insurance business. Sadly it seems, there are so many companies that rely on departments, voice mail or computers that it can be difficult to get answers to questions such as the one above. Also, I can attest to the rates in Wi. I moved here from CA and my coverage doubled and my rates were cut in half! Periodically, I will check my rates on the Geico and Progressive websites... as well as some of the others that send out to multiple companies for quotes. I have never had one of those that could match my rates I am getting through my independant agent. I am 45, single father with two speeding tickets, one 20 years ago and one 4 years ago. Hehehe. Part of the reason I think that Wi rates are so low is because all of their speed limits are 10 mph lower than any state I have been in. What would be a 45 mph zone somewhere else is a 35 mph zone here, a 35 mph zone anywhere else would be a 25 mph here. Why Geico can't meet my rates I can't understand and really don't worry about too much. I was just impressed enough by your response to take the time to reply.

Why here?

Why in the world would you post on this site. You say you are completely satisfied with the company and find us very easy to do business with and convenient. That's great! So why put our name on a rip-off reporting website? Now to answer your rate question, I do not have a Florida license, however I do have a license for ten other states. GEICO and its affiliate companies, GEICO General, GEICO Indemnity, and GEICO Casualty each have their own rate structures and criteria. If you have 3 accidents, you will most likely be place in the GI or GC company, whereas if you have a spotless record and meet some other standards, you will likely be placed in GG. I have no doubts that if you've been with GEICO that long, you have a GG policy which means you have a prefered policy. In the states I write GEICO insurance, if you are placed into the GI or GC company, you are offered 5% renewal discounts every six months for the first two years if you keep a clean record and make all of your payments on time. Hence why someone with 3 accidents can see dropping rates. In GEICO or GG, you do not get renewal discounts because you already are getting our best rates for your situation. Did you know that in the states I write, if you have a GG policy, we will not surcharge for minor tickets you may have in the future? Did you know that after five years of being insured with GEICO under a GG policy, your first at-fault accident will not be surcharged? Like I said, I'm not licensed in FL but thats how GEICO works in the states I write insurance. Listen, Lucy, you have a good policy with a good company. As I stated in another response I created here, just because you don't understand something, that doesn't make it a scam or a rip-off. Now, enjoy the rest of your day. Thanks for reading this. P.S. Just a side note, no, Florida doesn't have the best insurance rates. If you want cheap insurance, move to Ohio or Wisconsin. ;)
