I have had the worst experience of my life with General Electric Consumer Credit, who financed my purchase with Sleepy's Mattress Company.

I have terrible back problems and needed a new mattress. After checking different stores, I decided to purchase at Sleepy's. The salesperson was very pushy and sleazy, I should have honed in on that right away.

I decided to take advantage of the free interest for 6 months because my purchase was below $1,000. If I did not pay it off in that timeframe, I would be socked with 23.99% interest, that is deffered. I had a credit limit of $2,000 and had no intention of using that much.

The bed arrived at my house and after trying to sleep on it for 3 days, i was in severe pain and I noticed that the bed was not the same bed I tried at the showroom. The salesman had me try a twin bed and I ordered a queen. It was so uncomfortabl, I couldnt even sit up in it at night to read or watch tv. I had to resort to my couch until I got back to the showroom.

I went back to the showroom and talked to a different salesman(he was new let me add). The one I dealt with was not there(of course). I insisted that the mattress I received was the wrong one and asked to get a different one. I ended up picking one out that was not much more money than the first, and financed the second bed. The salesman told me that my new balance was just under a thousand dollars and that is what I would be financing(i also had to pay the delivery for the first and second bed).

Then the salesman told me I had to call customer service and order the bed myself and take care of all the paperwork. So, all the salesman did was get commission for selling me a bed and he did no paperwork!!! I called customer service and they apologized and told me that I was not supposed to order the bed, the salesman had to do it. I had to call the showroom back again and explain this, and then call customer service back! can everyone believe this? A nightmare! I cant even begin to explain how many phone calls I had to make to get this bed. The organization just was not there.

The day of delivery i received a call from the driver telling me that the shipment was COD!! I was astonished and had someone waiting at my house for the delivery. I explained to the driver the circumstances and he exclaimed that I would have to call customer service to change the COD to paid. The driver turned around and went back to the warehouse! I did not get the bed that day.

I called customer service and they told me that I had to call the showroom and explain this. I refused and had enough at this point. I negotiated with customer service and they gave me half price on the delivery and they said they would take some money off the mattress price. I was satisfied. I received the bed and signed the delivery slip with finance price i agreed on. They took the old bed away and showed a credit on my slip and the new charge.

After I received my first bill i was shocked to see a charge for over $1500.00! I am paying for the old bed and the new bed!!! They refuse to credit me because I signed the slip. I told them I signed a slip with a price i was told by customer service. Sleepys to this day denies everything and so does the finance company. I am in dispute with the finance company and am on my second letter of dispute with them.

The finance company will not do anything even after I have submitted all the paperwork. I am now being hit with finance charges because I was supposedly on a 6 month same as cash plan. Since they are charging me through the roof, they shuld have put me on the 1 year same as cash. Just another rediculous scheme to make money.

Now, the bed is sagging in the middle and I am not a heavy person. I will not even attempt to call on the warranty. I know that will be a nightmare too. I wish I could just return the mattress and forget about the whole thing, but I cant do that either. I am coming to the realization that I will need to file a lawsuit with both companies, to get my money and get rid of the mattress, if need be.

I have read many other reports on this website and others regarding sleepys. There are many unhappy customers with this company and I think it is time that we all do something about it. As a business degree student, I see all the ins and outs of business ethics and the trouble companies get into when they are not socially responsible.

I read an article from "Arthur" from New Jersey, and I agree with him on filing a class action law suit against Sleepy's. I will also need to sue the finance company as well.

There are more details to this story that are horrific, but I am sure your eyes are hurting at this point.

The finance company finances through many companies, so, BUYER BEWARE!!!
