I always mail payments 8 days in advance. Yet, the company always seem to charge me a late fee the day following the payment due date.

Aside from paying all of the late fees, I wonder whether the late payments are reported to the credit bureaus. So, not only am I paying unjust late fees, my credit history is also suffering. What a ripoff!

Problem with GE CCC in OH

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, January 13, 2005

I, too, was hit with finance charges on a bill I sent in 10 days in advance of the due date. I sent it on the 6th of the month, it was credited on the 16th. When I first called GE CCC, I was told there was no way to pay my bill online. When I called again 6 months later about the finance charge, I was told I could now pay online and there was a web site I could go to. Since paying this way, I have not incurred further charges and receive a confirmation email. The web site URL is http://onlinecreditcenter5.com.

Care Credit problems in Texas, too with this shady operation !

I, too, have had problems with this shady operation. Being a teacher, I can't afford dental work, so my dentist signed me up with Care Credit. It sounded great, because there were no fees, no interest, etc. Well, I got my first statement two months after I opened the account, and I had a late fee, and an over the limit fee due to the late fee! Notice I said FIRST STATEMENT - they never even sent me a statement before they started charging fees! I called and explained the situation, and I guess I got the only non-idiot on staff that day, because she was kind and fixed the problem immediately. However, in this month's bill, there's some mumbo-jumbo about deferred intrest promotional purchase blah blah blah. I want to thank you all and this site, because I was planning to go to the dentist soon and charge more to the care credit card, but now that I've read all this info, I plan to wait a couple of months until I can pay for my work in cash and will pay off this bill ASAP! Thanks for saving me - I'm still trying to rebuild credit that was destroyed in college. Good luck to everyone. Courtney in Dallas

Matt, Congrats on your engagement. I would suggest calling GECCC and explaining the situation to them. When I was dealing with them, the Customer Service Rep said the company allows them to remove one late charge a year. Ask them to credit the late fees to your account and have them verify the address for the invoices. Another post suggested online payment. I personally have not tried it, but you may want to look in to it. I have two more payments to make and then I am done with these idiots. Hooray!!! M. Austin, TX

If you see GECCC or Care Credit mentioned as the lender, run quickly the other way!!!!!!!

Believe it or not, after fighting with GE Capital Cons Card for many months, they finally turned my account over to an outside collection agency. It took one phone call and one letter to resolve this nightmare. I received a letter from the collection agency letting me know that my credit report had been cleared and I OWED NO MONEY!!!!! I couldn't believe it!! I guess the only way to avoid having to pay is to wait until GECCC moves the account from their own collections department to an outside agency. At that point, intelligent human beings listen to your story and take action. It's unfortunate that it had to come to this. Moral of the story: See GECCC or Care Credit mentioned as the lender, run quickly the other way!!!!!!!

Spacked by GECCC: How can I remedy this

#6Consumer Comment

Fri, January 07, 2005

I too was spacked by GECCC. I recently purchased an engagement ring and the creditor that the jewelers used was GECCCC. My first invoice was due on Christmas day 2004. I supposedly received an invoice on 12.14.04 at my physical address. However, I never say an invoice. This is because my mailing address (which I specified) is different from my physical address. Now I face a late fee. What Can I do?

We got hit with late fees as well

My wife and I were being hit every month for about six months with late fees. I pulled my records from the bank, my check stubs and invoices from GE and called Customer Service. The Customer Service Rep informed me that, excluding one payment, all of my payments were either on time or early. He then proceeded to inform me that since I had one late payment six months prior, they were charging me a late fee every month, regardless of whether or not the payment was on time!

Mail a payment in and whammo a late fee

#8Consumer Suggestion

Hi, I have experienced the same thing. Mail a payment in and whammo a late fee. So I started to send payment via priority mail with priority comfirmation or if getting close to date , I send it express mail , overnight with tracking. Here lately, when I went express mail, they had the gall to send me a past due statement with a whopping $29.00 late charge! But, I went to the usps site, entered the tracking # and it stated that it was delivered on the due date at 10:42 am. And was received by a M Harley. I called ge cardco and this man had the gall to say that it was delivered after 3;00pm. If I didn't have tracking or confirmation i would be in a jam. But i have evidence. Please contact Attorney general at www.AG.state.oh.us. we need to bind together and fight this ungodly practice. just make sure you have proof

You can pay electronically

Last year I got a care credit card and have been paying by electronic check for over 6 months. As of yet they have not charged me any late fees. I have had the go-around with them when they tried charging interest after 90 days but got that straightened out. Also just a couple months ago I bought an ATV which was through these guys. As of today no late fee's or any other fruadulent charges. So try electronic checks, it's all done automatically and they can't refuse it! I do mine through my bank, $5 a month but well worth it after knowing what I do now about GECCCC!

We definitely need to get together as a group to remedy this situation. If everyone of you emailed the Attorney General of Ohio as I did recently, the sudden influx of cmplaints HAS to catch soemone's eye!! You may also telephone them, but I find email to be a bit more effective. I have received yet another form letter saying I am past due - and to call the Customer Service people. What a racket they have!!!! So, right now, contact the AG of Ohio!!! Please!!

We just got whacked with our GE Capital Cons too!

Like most of you in this boat with us... we pay our bills on time and are responsible consumers. Enticed by a Dr. to sign up for the zero percent financing for one year. To avoid finance charges we paid off loan before it was due. I called GE CAPITAL CONS and spoke to a nice lady rep.(dang! I failed to write down her name!) who explained what we owed on our pay off balance amount and a $10. fee to pay by phone. Then we got a letter over a month later stating that we owed finance charges and accrued interest because our bank account info. was not correctly inputed by this dear agent. I spoke with a half a dozen GE CAPITAL CONS up the food chain and was told that "I" inputed the info. in their telephone automated system - therefore I owe nearly $1,000. more! I have paid off my debt today... and even the $10. fee for talking to the mystery CON... who they can't disclose to me. But we want to fight the unfair and fraudulent interest charges that are accruing daily. I checked out OHIO BBB and will file a complaint. I see they have only one complaint and one resolved. Perhaps we all need to file a class action lawsuit to get some attention and fair business treatment. Any other suggestions?

It is impossible to make payments online to GE Capital Cons Cardco.

It is also impossible to speak to anyone who can assist you at the "Customer Service" number listed on all correspondence. To dispute an amount, you must write to an address in Ohio, which, of course, does not have an accompanying phone number. I have now gone through the Ohio Better Business Bureau, who sent me the phone number of the Ohio Attorney General: 614-466-4986. I also spoke with my dentist's office manager, who indicated that not only have they heard from other patients about these fraudulent late fees and charges, but Care Credit also takes a large chunk of the money up front from the dentist!! What a crock.

I am in error. My payments are made directly to GE Cap, not the card company.

You are totally correct, and I am in error. My payments are made directly to GE Cap, not the card company. Still, I find it highly unusual that a big card company does not have a web site where bills can be reviewed and paid on-line. Is there a URL on any of your statements? If you're relying on the mail, then they have you over a barrel, because without a CRRR, you have no proof of when, if ever, your payment was received. If they're at all shady, that just leads you to disaster. I wish you luck.

URL for GE Cap, please, I did not find a web site for this operation.

#14Consumer Suggestion

Mon, December 01, 2003

I would love to make my payments electronically. The suggestion from Linda from San Diego was to contact the "GE Cap" web site. What is the URL and are you certain you are not referring to GE Capital which is totally different from GE Capital Cons Cardco? When I did a Google search for "GE Capital Cons Cardco" I did not find a web site for this operation. I did find an electronic payment service that would make payments to GE Capital Cons Cardco (and lots of other companies) for $4.95 a month. I suspect that a lot of us readers would like to know the URL or that you confused these complaints with another company. Please elaborate. Thank you.

PAY ONLINE

#15Consumer Suggestion

Tue, October 14, 2003

You obviously have a computer, go the GE Cap web site and sign up to pay online. My daughter has a car loan with this company and we have been paying by this method for almost 2 years and have never once had a late fee. She usually pays 1-2 days before it is due. You will receive an email confirmation.
