Well I must say, I have read several complaints that all of these consumers have left and I must add my complaint to the several hundred listed. I too am a consumer who has been defrauded by this GE Capital Cons Cardco.

I must say though, it says it right there in their name, "CONS" and that's just what they are.

My husband and I purchased $4,000.00 worth of appliances at Brandsmart Nov 23rd of 2002. Mind you I was ready to pay cash for this merchandise, but nevertheless, the salesman said they had a great promotion of deferred payments and interest for 6 and 12 months. So, me the stupid one opened an account and got suckered in like everyone else.

The first bill arrived not even 2 weeks later and indicating a minimum amount due of $122.00 by December 23rd. On the statement it indicated promotional deferred interest. I assumed the amount due was if I wanted to make a payment towards the account because my payments were supposed to be deferred for 6 months on one appliance and 12 months on the others.

When the second bill came the amount was doubled and a late fee accessed and get this you ready, my interest rate went from the 21.98% TO 40.199%! Have you ever in your life heard of such. I called immediately to find out what was going on and they told me there was no such promotion and I should call and complain to the sales representative. What the hell does the sales representative have to do with my credit through your friggin company.

I immediatley brought the account up to date and upon the following month they lowered my interest rate back down to the 21.98% (wow what a bargain) and terminated my deferred interest and then charged me $246.88 in finance charges!!!! Great company. So, to pay them back, I have closed both my accounts that I had opened with them and I will transfer my balances on another credit card I have for 8% and they will never get any business from me nor any of my family or friends. The CEO's and CFO's at this company must be slime balls for degrading the consumers in such a way to make money off us. I dont know how the sleep well at night.
