WARNING: The people at Garden Island of Skowhegan (especially the tall thin younger man) are EXTREMELY rude. When arriving yesterday with a large hamper and a basket full of clothes, I was on the phone making a call for my client. My son-in-law had given me a ride to drop off my laundry. He put the basket on the scale and went out to the car to wait for me. When I asked the attendant if he could put my large hamper on the scale, he made a nasty sound toward me. I replied, "personality plus" and he still refused to do it. I asked again and he told me I could do it when I got off the phone. So I put the hamper on the scale myself (using only my left hand) and struggled a bit since I was still on the phone. I had been on the phone for more than 40 minutes when I arrived at the Laundromat and didn't want to have to call back as I had been transferred to someone else 3 times.

Today when I picked up my laundry, I got a nasty note from the owner who said he looked at the footage of the incident because the attendant had complained about me! They said I needed to stop being rude or I could go elsewhere. I wasn't rude (other than the comment about his personality) and I am sure the Manager didn't do anything about the attendant being rude. So now, they have lost my business and I will be going elsewhere (and will make sure my friends are aware of the poor customer service). Normally, I am on a cane when I go in but managed without one this time. What if I came in with a cane and couldn't use one of my arms? More than likely my son-in-law would have helped me but I can assure you the worker at the Laundromat wouldn't have done a darn thing to help. I have a friend who has such severe shoulder problems, she can't lift anything, never mind a tall hamper filled with clothes. I was told (in the letter) to find another "lackey". That had nothing to do with it at all. I am happy to pay more per pound in order to receive good customer service. I had changed to Garden Island because they were less expensive and were available more often. I pity any other disabled person and warn them NOT to go to Garden Island in Skowhegan.
