I discovered 3 new deductions from my debit statement dated April 16, 2019 for $1.97, April 23rd for $12.97, and May 23rd for $12.97.   The deductions were made by FREESHIPPING.COM.  There was a phone number, 800-515-9185, listed with the transaction, so I called it.

The man who answered spoke very slowly, with an accent.  When I asked him questions, his answers were uninformative.

Q:  What am I being bileld for?

A:  Free shipping.

Q:  If it's free, why am I being billed?

A:  Let me see. That depends who you ordered from.

Q:  How did you get my bank account number to bill me.

A:  I'll have to check.  I'll need to gather some information from you.

The only thing he made clear is that this will be a monthly deduction of $12.97 on the 23rd of each month.

I never signed on with this company or anyone else for free shipping.

My bank had me sign papers to the affect that these were fraudulent withdrawals.  They closed out my debit account and created a new one.  The money will be returned to my account and an investigation will take place.

The bank reviewed my history and saw that I made an online donation through Overstock.com, while I was on their website.  That happened on April 16th.  The next transaction after that was the first deduction by FREESHIPPING.COM for $1.97.

I seriously doubt that Overstock had anything to do with this scam.  But someone might have been monitoring their website and got my bank account number when I made the donation.  Or the donation request was a fraudulent window on their website.
