Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I bought a cell phone from FreedomPop as a back-up phone.  It stays in my desk drawer.  I got it out to make a call over 6 months ago, and it wouldn't turn on.  Obviously, the phone is defective if it quit working after only a handful of phone calls were made with it.  I filed complaints with the Better Business Burea, the Michigan Attorney General's office, the County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, etc.  Half a year fighting, FreedomPop still refuses to do anything.

What's worse is that FreedomPop deducts minutes from your plan (you get 200 min/month) even when you didn't make any calls.  The past half year, FreedomPop has been deducting minutes from my plan every month even though it's impossible I used my phone that won't turn on.

I hope this helps other consumers not get scammed by FreedomPop.

freedompop.com is a terrible company to do business with in terms of being sneaky as hell. First experience was paying $20 to order a chip for a phone which looked like it would work, or qualify as a Bring Your Own Device. Delivery took a couple weeks. Then it became clear some forum posts lie about which unlocked carrier's phones will work with their service. The folks I was trying to help out thought they had other phones which were compatible and a couple weeks went by as they could not find BYOD eligible phones. So then I get billed for service about $40 and have to write to Support and get them to cancel service WHICH BEGINS THE MOMENT YOU ORDER ANYTHING AND *NOT* WHEN YOU GO TO ACTIVATE A DEVICE, OK, fine, I'm out $60 trying to help some friends get free or cheap service. A week goes by and I receive junk mail for a free phone and free service. Like a dummy, knowing I could use that phone during an upcoming hospitalization, instead of taking my "good" phone to the hospital, I order the free phone, pay about $18 for shipping, wait a week or so to receive the phone and then activate it. I log into the website and see I'm going to get billed about $30 for service which began when I stupidly ordered the phone, so I go through the Downgrade Plan routine. Fine. Screwed again. A few weeks to by and they again bill me about $30 because you also have to downgrade Services separately from downgrading the Plan. Their plan is to rip you off at every turn. Screw freedompop.com and go with Republic Wireless or Project Fi.
