Received $300 free gas offer in return for attending a time-sucking vacation time share pitch in Orlando. This was back in June 2008, when gas was going up each night, and hey, every couple should try the time-share grinder at least once....it really bonds you together in rage and frustration!

So the deal turns out to be a complex affair involving printing out and mailing tiny certificates requesting $25 gift cards for every $100 worth of gas you purchase. You have to send in 4% first, too, as some sort of application fee (that should have been my first clue). The gas has to be from the same seller each month, and you can't send in your redemption coupons too early or too late. Assuming you have time to follow the rules, you then wait either either 28 or 54 days for your $25 card to show up. Then you get to see if the card really works to buy additional gasoline, as advertised. So far, it's all fantasy, since I am still waiting for a redemtion from gas I purchased in August 2008.

Anyway, next step is to send a nastygram to the principal of Tidewater Marketing Crystal Clark, demanding my $25 from August, and my original $5 back. I want to spend that $5 for lunch at my local Backyard Burger, before it too, goes out of business. Clark has a deplorable record with the Better Business Bureau, (for whatever good they do) and it looks like there is an active investigation with the Florida Attorney General's office here http://myfloridalegal.com/lit_ec.nsf/investigations/413FC15DB9CFC85385257488004EDACB.

Oh well....great learning experience, and my education cost only $5 (I'm not counting my time!). I'm interested in a class-action lawsuit, if any other readers care to investigate the possibility with me. I suppose Ms. Clark and the other principals at Tidewater Marketing have a number of assets they have obtained fraudulently that might be seized and auctioned off to redistrubute the wealth, as our President-elect might say.

Tidewater got my father as well for this free gas scam

My father bought a new Kia from a local Kia delaership (Tampa,FL) and got an offer for $500 in free gas from this company as well. Well, same thing happened to him as the above posters, he registered, paid his $5 register fee, and bought gas every month (at least $100 worth to be eligible) then sent in his receipts for his $25 monthly gas card he was supposed to get, and to date he has never recieved anything. Fortunantly, because the company is somewhat local, a local news station (Bay News 9, baynews9.com) has been following the investigation by the state attorneys office, and has been posting updates on their website about this company. As of today, they are reporting it appears the office (Tidewater marketing in Largo,FL) had began to close down. Very Unfortunate, and shady as well. My father plans to register with the state attorneys office against this company, and hopefully a class action suit will come of this.

Gasoline Redemption Center promises $25 gas cards for every $100 of receipts you send in Largo Florida Like Mark, I too received this wonderful promotion from a timeshare in Orlando. I followed the rules: $100 in receipts from the same gas station every month for four months. I received emails stating that my receipts were received as follows: We have received your gas receipts in good order. IMPORTANT NOTE: For each voucher you receive; send $100 in gasoline purchase receipts. You may only redeem one voucher per month. Your receipts and redemption vouchers must be received monthly following the listed Terms and Conditions in order to receive your $25 gas gift card per the following schedule: A: If the Redemption Coupon and original receipts are received on or before the 25th of the month in which the gasoline purchases took place, you will receive your $25 Gas Gift Card within 28 business days. B: If the Redemption Coupon and original receipts are received after the 25th of the month in which the gasoline purchases took place, you will receive your $25 Gas Gift card within 54 business days. We do not require anything further from you at this time. Just keep collecting and sending in your receipts so you can receive your Free Gas. Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is not monitored and you will not receive a response. Once again you are all set just keep doing what you are doing. Thank you for being a member Your Free Gas Team I began this process in August and have not seen the first gas card. I'm sure there are many others who have gone through this because when my husband and I purchased a car from a Hyundai dealer in New Port Richey, FL. we received yet another redemption offer. This time for $250 in "free gas". Needless to say, this time we opted out. They claim that it is a promotional offer for marketing purposes. It is a scam! If you receive one of these "offers", DON'T DO IT!!!! I have wondered if it is possible for them to make money from the receipts you send in. I would like to thank Ripoff Report for allowing the consumer a means to strike back and a way to warn others.

Just re-read my contribution, and noticed I transposed two keys when typing. I wrote "...you have to send in 4% first," but I meant to write ...you have to send in $5 first.
