Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In February, this company threatened to garnish my wages to repay delinquent credit account for Midland Financial in the amount of $663.75.  I had made calls to them to reach a settlement, but they were unresponsive.

But that's the problem -- it appears that's the way they practice their business.  You call, are never able to speak to an associate, and are forced to leave a message.  After that, no one calls you back.  They seem content to let a situation get to the point where they can garnish because it's easier for them.

On February 18, 2014, I paid off this delinquent account in full.  Here is the information:

02/18/14
Fred Hanna Payment 140218 C0154151-1978 (My Name)
  $663.75

Some months after that, they sent me a letter much to my surprise that they had not received my 'regular payment' of $300+! Like I had agreed to monthly payments of some kind! I left a very detailed message giving them the above information for an associate by the name of Terrance Green giving the details of the payment and the date it came out of my account.

This Friday morning, 7 months later, my direct deposit went in as usual.  I tried to get $ money out at the bank, but unbeknownst to me, this debt collection agency had put a hold on my entire bank account!  As you know, a lot of people live paycheck to paycheck.  I needed gas and some things from the grocery store.  Much to my shock, my card got declined everywhere I went though I had just been paid!

And why?  Because of Frederick J. Hanna & Associates, and the hold they put on my account!

I made several urgent phone calls to their offices, explained what had happened and asked to speak to a person, rather than going into voice mail.  But all was to no avail, all I ever got was the opportunity to leave a message.  I left 2 messages for the department Supervisor, Carol Godfrey, and 1 for an associate by the name of Lillian Mira.  On the final attempt I got Terrance Green himself.

He made no explanation, but after some questioning, I got him to tell me that the hold was deliberate, and might be released "depending on what I see" after I prove to him, once again, that this was paid in full in Februrary.  I asked him how long it would take to be released, but he just stated he wouldn't make any promises.

After some questioning, I came to understand that the hold was requested through the court system, and any release would have to be sent back to to court and from there go back to my bank before the hold can be released.

I said that would probably take a week, or more to which he responded 'it certainly won't be today'.

So this is not just an incovenience.  I have to go to work, to do that I have to put gas in my car, and by the way, I'd like to be able to eat sometime in the next week or so.

You should have never EVER made an agreement with this third party debt collector.  Find an attorney or file a motion pro se yourself.  If not then close your account and open another one asap.  How did they get your banking information?? You did get screwed.

This is a law firm/collection agency from Marietta, GA.  They are associated with Bank of America and Chase as well as a network of over 70 law firms throughout the country. I don't think these guys will stop at anything to get a buck out of people.  They are the nastiest, sleaziest and most immoral outfit out there.  They have been investigated by the Atty. General of GA, whom they paid to get out of office.  They have everybody in their pocket and make no qualms about it.  The owner, Fred Hanna, even tells the employees who to vote for on elections.  They were caught in a scam by the local tv stations where they submitting false documents to the court.  Because the judges and Bar Assoc. are in their pocket, nothing happens to them.  They have also had at least two class action lawsuits brought against them by their own employee for non-payment of overtime and wages.  In the first suit, they had to pay over $267,000 in back pay.  The ongoing one is estimated at about 1 million dollars.  If anybody has complaints about these guys, file them directly with the FTC and sue their pants!  Also, make sure and sue the creditor (whoever that is).  The BBB has them at a rating of D- with close to 200 complaints.
