It looks like Rip Off Report redacted my links on how to fight debt collector lawsuits for Hanna and Zwicker, and for help blogs. For help with the lawsuits you can do a Google search for a book and website by Allen Harkleroad titled Stick it to sue happy debt collectors. The help blog I linked is Next Level Unlimited Credit. I do not have any stake in any of these sites, I am just posting to try to help other consumers. I do understand why Rip Off Report redacts links however.

The Georgia Supreme Court says Hanna is a "law firm," so you have to submit a bar complaint vs. them (and not a consumer complaint with the state OCA or federal FCC -- but fine if you do that too anyway). You may submit a bar complaint vs. Fred Hanna (the owner of the "firm") and any atty. that may have contacted you that also violated bar rules for atty.s:
(Call and ask for a bar complaint, and if they have them online):

Debt Settlement Companies and Consumer Credit Counseling Services have about as much power as a spitwad for preventing Hanna from suing you. Jeff, your debt settlement company is not licensed attorneys. They will not impede Hanna's efforts in collecting or suing on this account. If anything, your thinking that they can help prevent Hanna from suing you will make you an even bigger target as it shows Hanna you really are uninformed. Their dunning letter was received early this month from what you wrote. You have 30 days to dispute and demand validation so it sounds like your 30 day window of FDCPA protection closes sometime next week. Send a demand for validation letter and overnight mail it to their physical address from UPS tomorrow.Spend the extra money at UPS, trust me. Make sure it's certified mail return receipt requested in addition to being overnighted.Never admit or acknowledge any alleged debt at Hanna. Type this letter verbatim and send it out tomorrow. ___________________________________________________________________ To Frederick J Hanna and Associates From Jeff ____ 3/1/09 Reference/File # ______ I am disputing the validity of your claim concerning the alleged Chase account for x amount of dollars. I trust that this request for validation will be honored in full compliance with the FDCPA (section 809). ____________ That is it. Keep it short and sweet. Drop this worthless settlement company NOW! Stay off the phone too. Sounds like you did some damage by acknowledging the Chase debt by telling Hanna you are with a worthless settlement company. Just send the validation letter as I instructed. Hanna cannot proceed with collecting the debt until they successfully validate if they receive your validation letter before the 30 day window closes. Consider getting a REAL ATTORNEY if and when the successfully validate. Good luck!
