I had watched the paid program commercials of the two clowns on t.v. in the past but always thought their prices seemed reasonable. This past week my girlfriend decided she wanted to get rid of her minivan and buy a nice used 4 door sedan. We looked at a few dealers and private sellers in our area, but couldn't find anything she liked.

Saturday morning we saw the commercial for the Fred Martin superstore and saw several cars she was interested in. We packed up a cooler and got the kids ready and decided to make the 45 minute drive down for the great deals. When we got there, the parking lot looked like a 3 ring circus. Some girls came up and made me fill out a questionare about my name, address and phone number before I could even talk to a sales representative. That was my first clue this place was a rip-off. I gave the gentleman our criteria and since we didn't mention new car, he acted bored and disinterested in our request. We went into the office to see if they even had anything in our price range on the lot. I mentioned the ad on t.v. and he said they taped it the week before and those cars were sold. I said if he didn't have anything in our price range not to waste our time so we could look elsewhere. He said to wait a minute and came back with a piece of paper.

He took us for a long walk to the farthest point in the lot to show us 4 pieces of crap that were way overpriced. He couldn't even give me the price of 2 of them. The last one we were shown, was a 1994 Nissan Altima in fair to poor condition for $7000 (Kelly blue book lists it for $3500 in excellent condition). I laughed and said you must be kidding. He wasn't, and I had enough at that point. If my kids weren't with us, I would've gone to see the manager to file several complaints. But, they were probably too busy ripping off other good honest people to care anyways.

Richard, The sales rep you talked to was wrong. The show is actually filmed 2-3 weeks prior to air date. It makes sense at those incredibly low prices that those vehicles don't last long, doesn't it? It should.
