This started several years ago when a close friend of mine was selling his car as he did every few years to upgrade to a newer model and believe me when you get one of his cars its a cherry always spotless and always garaged, So i jumped on the chance it was a 2002 factory ordered Explorer Limited with every option available, It was $35,455 sticker price, he still had the sticker in the glove box, he had towels on the floor the plastic still on the radio, shiny gloss black paint that he had professionaly waxed and cared for,and approx 50,000 miles I belive this was 2006-7, I asked his price he told me I think around 17,000 I bought it that day,  took it home to my wife she loved  it , It was always parked in the garage and I always kept it clean as a wistle I  have always owned black vehicles and I know what it takes to keep them looking good, around 2009 I noticed  spider veins looking things all over the hood appearing

I took it to local ford they said nothing they can do, ok i kindof thought not to big of a deal  but then big pieces of the paint on the roof just flake off So I took it back they said normal and out of warranty, Normal? how could paint just flake off in 5" pieces be normal . Now almost the whole roof looks like some kindof backyard paintjobs that someone did. And yesterday I even noticed on the doors lines and bubbles appearing. It is really obvious Ford had a bad batch of paint and wont admitt it I have owned vehicles 20 years old and never start doing that, This vehicle is always in the garage my wife takes the kids to school and soccer and thats about it, its not exposed to elements its always clean and with only 68,000 miles it obviously not wore out but the paint sure is and I want someone to explain how a huge company cant admitt their fault it happens to everyone a bad batch of paint is no big deal just stand behind it In this economy who can afford to loose customers?

This quote from your original post:

"So i jumped on the chance it was a 2002 factory ordered Explorer Limited with every option available"

Sure sounds like it's 9 years old to me.  It's HIGHLY unlikely that they will repaint this 9 year old car.

I read and COMPREHENDED what you wrote.

I know you said this started "several years ago", the point now is, it's a 9 year old vehicle.

Further, the EPA changed the rules and required the water based paints that don't adhere as well as the older solvent based paints.  Other mfr's had similar problems. Some friends ran their year old Pontiac through a car wash and the paint on the hood came off.

I wish you luck with getting Ford to paint your vehicle, but I would bet your chances are pretty slim.

If you would have read this started several years ago which would have made it 5-6 years old and yes I expect Ford to do something about it, I know its always been babied and garaged We have several company trucks used daily and not cared for with 200,000 miles on and the paint just doesnt fall off, what does the EPA have to do with it Ford cant paint a car that will last 5 years and every new car can expect to need painted, that is ridiculous.

If I got this right, this is a 2002 vehicle and 9 years later you want Ford to repaint it?

How much did the "lifetime warranty" you obviously purchased cost you?

Ford owes you NOTHING...talk to the EPA about their requirement to use water based paints on vehicles.

Even if it was Ford's fault, it's a little unreasonable to expect a repair on them after 9 years...man up and get it re-done.
