> I among thousands of others was suckered into purchasing a 2000 Ford Focus.

> Among the handful of recalls it has had, there are still more that Ford Motor Company(1-800-727-7000)is trying to sweep under the rug. To name a few:

> 1. Passenger floor board becomes soaked because of leaking ac fluid.

> 2. Brake pads replaced(200.00)and rotors turned at 25,000 miles(not normal)

> 3. Power windows gone out.

> 4. Ridiculously loud squeaking of brakes, to which I am told cannot be fixed.

> 5. Back right door will not open from inside.

> 6. Had to be towed b/c ignition went out(at 20,000 miles)

> 7. All interior lights, and exterior light dim at night, and engine makes a noise like it has shifted itself into neutral for a second or two.(took it in to be looked at and conveniently ford couldnt find anything wrong)

> 8. Brakes make a HORRIBLE grinding noise every time you use them, and when you let off........that is when the lovely squeaking begins. There has got to be enough of us with this problem that could act together and get our money back or some sort of compensation. I have had my car from 1 and 1/2 years I bought it for almost 16,000 still owe 11,500 and the most I can get now for a trade in is 7,500. Does this sound fair to you??? And I even took the car back to the place I purchased it from, and they were not willing to work with me. These cars are lemons and something needs to be done about this.

> Wichita Falls Ford Auto Center is where I purchased this piece...I would recommend staying as far away as possible.

I too have a Focus, but a 2001. I have had every problem amaginable and to find out that thousands upon thousands of Focus owners have had these probelms. Ford refuses to fix anything to this day, they tell us, "If we can't find the problem, we can't fix it!" We have been battling with Ford since September of 2001 when we filed a Lemon law complaint with the MD attorney general. They are still working on our claim. We filed the complaint because the car was in the shop for major problems over 10 times each problem and well over 45 days. We tried to complain to Ford's main office in Michigan and even sent a certified letter first, then we were told that we could not take our car to any Ford, that NO Ford will fix our vehicle. Mind you, we paid for an extended warranty and maintence free plan, and they were telling us that we couldn't use it. Funny huh?? Recently, we had to take the car to Ford because of a recall at the same time they were to do a 15,000 mile maintence. I guess the recall was done, but as to the maintence, the ONLY thing done was that the oil filter was changed. We had told them of a new problem that arised with the car leining. We were told that was normal. We had my brother in law look at it to find out that the rear axle is bent and the rear tires are balling inward. Ford still says it's normal. At the last visit, they dented the car in two places and there are now a couple of very bad scratches to our vehicle, again Ford refuses to return our calls. Back before we filed the complaint, on one of the visits to Ford, they had the car for two weeks, didn't fix anything, and put 372 miles on the car. When we complained to Ford, they said that they can "Test" drive the car anywhere they want. It turns out, one of the machanics was driving our vehicle home and used it for personal use. Amazing isn't it. When we had this information and proof of it, we told Ford. We were then told that their mechanics were allowed to drive our vehicle home. I guess they think we're stupid or something. It came to our attention 3 weeks ago, that Ford is in the process of recalling ALL Ford Focus's and taking them off the market. They are giving the total amount you paid back, but only to be put into another Ford, they are also to give a discount on another Ford. Myself, though, I would rather take my money and go to a dealership that actually knew what they are doing. Best of luck!

Amber, I am in the same boat as you. My car has flooded (right now it the car and ac system are full of mildew and it stinks!!!). I have had window problems, ignition problems, weatherstipping falling off the car, feul gage malfunction, the list goes on!!! Ford is taking back this lemon though. After two months of hassle, I am getting back not even 1/4 of what I put into this "vehicle".
