Portland,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Thu, May 25, 2006
I worked for FCNB for about 2 1/2 years. I left in 2002 but kept in contact with my supervisor. About six months to a year after I left the company I called her and she told me that she didnt work there anymore and that they had gone out of business. I have also ran into other former employees who have told me the same thing. Anyway I do not believe that FCNB was purposely tricking people into credit cards nor do I believe that they tried to scam anybody. FCNB was purchased by Speigel (which owns Eddie Bauer, Crate & Barrel, Newport News, and a couple more)just before I began working for them; and isn't speigel still around? Well my comments are just to help fill eveyone in on why there is no FCNB anymore. Mat

Thank you for your suggestions..I have already started drafting the letter I will send to the collection agency. I have the proof in my bank statements that show the payments as well as the settlement letter the people at Cardholder Processing Center faxed to me this afternoon ( I am somewhat impressed, they said they would fax it but I didnt expect it to actually happen!) What you said was true... I have definately learned my lesson, but at the time, I didn't know I had options and did what I thought was right. Thanks again,

They got your money. It didn't clear your credit. Now they've sold your information to another agency. And this agency will sell it to another and another. Send these people a letter (Certified or USPS Priority mail with signature confirmation..even fax it if you have a number available), also cc your state AG's office, stating that this debt was settled and they are not to contact you further. Also enclose, if available, your proof of payment (though I do advise you to blank out your routing number/account number if you paid by check...vultures have no ethics and may try to "self-help" themselves to your bank account. Also advise them that any attempt to report this "debt" as anything other than disputed or any attempts to re-age this on your credit report will result in legal action. Likely what happened is that the bottomfeeders bought your information from TransUnion and have no assocation with anyone other than themselves. They saw that you paid another agency and are hoping that you will do the same for them.
