This letter is to express my dissatisfaction of the Firestone tires that I have on my 2004 Dodge Durango.  In December 2011 I purchased 4 new Firestone tires for my Dodge Durango.  The vehicle had 70,951 miles on it at the time of tire purchase.   The tires I had purchased were Firestone Destination LE tires size P245/70R17 size.  The tires were purchased at Firestone store in Arizona.

On October 21, 2013 I took one of the tires to the same Firestone store to fix a flat repair.  The store manager was unable to fix the tire due to the close proximity of two nails that were in the tire and offered to pro-rate the tire and replace it at a reduced fee from the original price of the tire.  At this time my Dodge Durango has less than 92,000 miles on it.  I had the manager inspect the remaining tires due to excessive wear of all of the tires.  He measured the tread depth on all tires which ranged from 6/32 inches or less in other areas of the tires.

Based on looking at the tires that are less than two years old and have under 22,000 miles on them  it appears that they are dry cracking between the treads and appear to be worn to the tread indicators especially on the front tires on the outside corners.  The manager advised that the uneven tire wear may be due to a poorly aligned vehicle and lack of tire rotation.  I advised the manager that I do my own rotations and have completed two on this vehicle since the tires were new and that the vehicle was not out of alignment and explained that It tracks down the roadway without issue.

The manager offered to pro-rate all of my tires for a fee that I was not satisfied with.  I was instructed to call the Firestone Tire service Customer Satisfaction center at 1-800-356-4644.  I spoke to a supervisor who explained the Firestone pro-rate warranty and was unable to assist me or offer a solution to the problem.

Why should I have to pay anything for a tire that is rated for 60, 000 when they only last 22,000 in less than 2 years?  I sent a letter to the parent company Bridgestone and we will see what they do.
