ON 04/14/02 I WENT TO FIRESTONE TIRE AND SERVICE TO HAVE MY ANTIFREEZE FLUSHED AND CHANGED.I HAD BOUGHT TIRES THERE AND ASKED HOW MUCH THEY CHARGE TO FLUSH AND PUT NEW ANTIFREEZE IN MY TRUCK.

I PICKED UP MY TRUCK TO NOTICE A WEEK LATER MY RADIATOR BOTTLE WAS OVERFLOWING AND MY RADIATOR CAP WAS CORRODING WHICH WAS FINE WHEN I TOOK IT IN. I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK UP TO FIRESTONE TO GET NOTHING BUT LIP FROM SERVICE TECH (PATRICK RAZACK). I TOLD HIM I HAD A LEAK SO HE PUT STOPLEAK IN MY RADIATOR.

THEN ALL HE COULD DO FOR ME WAS PUT A NEW RADIATOR ON AT AN ADDITIONAL COST TO ME. I THEN DECIDED TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO A ANOTHER ME REPRAMANDABLE MECHANIC THAT HAD TO REPLACE MY THERMASTAT BECAUSE THE STOPLEAK CAUSED CORROSION IN MY RADIATOR AND CAUSED MY THERMASTAT TO STICK ALSO CAUSED MY HEATERCORE AND RADIATOR TO STOP UP.

I HAD TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $118.58 TO FIX MY TRUCK. I GOT A RECIEPT FROM THE MECHANIC STATING THAT THE STOPLEAK HAD CAUSED MY PROBLEMS. I THEN TOOK THIS UP WITH THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPT. IN WRITIN WITH A COPY OF MY RECIEPTS AND A LETTER OF COMPLAINT TO TRY AND GET MY TOTAL AMOUNT BACK THAT I WAS OUT. WHICH WAS $53.27 AT FIRESTONE AND $118.58 FROM THE OTHER MECHANICS.

I FINALLY GOT A CALL BACK FROM THEM AND THEY WERE THE MOST RUDE PEOPLE I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. THEY CALLED MY HOME AND WORK ABOUT A MILLION TIMES ONLY TO SAY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THERES BUT STOPLEAKS PROBLEM I TOLD THEM THEY HAD PUT STOPLEAK IN MY TRUCK WITHOUT PERMISSION WHICH MADE IT THERE PROBLEM. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM STILL TRYING TO GET MY MONEY WITH NO LUCK.

These guys at firestone really took you. If just your coolant bottle was overflowing, there was no need at all to put stop leak in the radiator. And you definitely didnt need a new radiator (at least before the stop leak was added). What probably happened is that after they "flushed" your radiator (which is a service I think nobody needs) they just put too much antifreeze back in. Antifreeze expands when it gets hot, so it exits the radiator and goes into the overflow "bottle". Then if there is still to much, it will flow out of the overflow bottle and onto the ground. It is supposed to work like this. So them adding stop leak was a BAD idea. And a Radiator? chi-ching!!! If the plastic radiator bottle was leaking in a place it shouldnt, it should have just been removed and fixed with crazyglue, or replaced. These guys are morons, Im surprised you had to ASK for the flush, as this is something they almost ALWAYS try to sell people. They owe you a new radiator, thermostat, and probably even a waterpump, which might be going next. FLUSHING IS FOR TOILETS
