FINGERHUT

  I have been a loyal customer of fingerhut sonce 2009.  On September of 2015 my husband had a very bad car accident that prevented him from working for almost four months.  At the time i missed 1 payment with fingerhut and called to make some type of arrangement to prevent any derragatory information reported on the credit beaureau.  I made the call and it did take about an hour of my time to set everything up. So i thought.  The plan was orginally for 9 months, they would lower my payment plan and interest from 24.90% to 14.9% and no late fees would be given on my account.  At the time of the arrangement my balance was $3129.  The arrangement was set up for $100 a month for 9 months.  Great, i was happy tohave maintained in good standards with them and my credit would not be that affected.

  Today i decided to log on to my account to see my balance.  To my surprise, my balance has gone up and my account was being charged late fees along with some fee called Safeline. The total fees were of $74 and on top of that the interest charges were made at 24.9% over my balance.  I immediatley picked up  my phone and got a gentleman by the name of Tyler ( very rude) I explained my situation was put on hold for about 25 minn he calmely gets back on the line and continues to tell me that apparently there was a miscommunication on their end and that the representative that took my call made a mistake and never enrolled me on the payment plan. He then starts telling me that only 3 fees of $37 can be removed and thats about all they can offer me.  I proceed to do my math and i see that i have made payments of a total of $800 and my account has increased rather than decrease.  So i continue to ask him what has happened to all that money. He starts to tell me well, since you were never enrolled your interest was about $62.00 and the late fees were $37 and the safeline fee is $37.  Therefore it was like i was not paying anything. 

I continue to ask him about the payment and what their mistake has cost me and he continues to tell me that there is nothing they can do.  They can go ahead and credit my account for 3 late fees of $37 and enroll me in the orginal plan that i thought i had been enrolled on since September of 2015. I continued to tell him that i continue to be in a very bad state financially and that my effort to have the account in good standings have to honored.  They have to return that money i had paid towards the balance.  STEALING!!! Fingerhut stole $800 of my very hard earned money and like if nohing tells me it was a miscommunication and there is nothing they can do.  Somebody please help me understand how this company just git away with this???? How can that be???? I tried to do the right thing but i just cant anymore.  I decided to get off the plan completely and erase by bank account from the payments.  I know my credit will be affected immensely and prevent me from the american dream of purchasing a home but honestly, i think ill get a better deal once the collection offers start coming in.
