Tonight I tried to exchange a pair of pants that I had bought 5 days ago, I had mistakenly picked up a size 16 and needed a size 10. I did not realize this until this morning so I took them back tonight after work. Now keep in mind, I did not want a refund, no cash exchanging hands, I just wanted to exchange my size 16 pants for a size 10. I went up to the counter with the 10 and also another pair I was going to purchase as well. I was told that the pants were on sale last week and so I could only get store credit for 15.00, these were 29.99, I told her I just wanted to exchange pants for pants.

I was told no, I had to get the 15.00 in store credit and then pay the difference on the 29.99. I immediately asked for the store manager, she came and told me the same thing. I did not have the receipt, I just wanted an exchange. Well it does not matter if you have a receipt or not, if you take something back and it was on sale previously you have to pay the difference for the exchanged item. Of course, I was angry, not bolistic, but was very firm, the manager said I will give you the 15.00 back even though I am not supposed to. I told her I did not want a refund, just a size 10. She proceeded to tell me that most stores have that policy, I stated that Wal Mart next door does not do that and that I have never heard of not being able to exchange, her reply was Wal Mart takes back everything.

If there is anyone in the world that can explain this one to me "logically" I would appreciate it. I asked her for her supervisor's info, she gave it to me as she told me she is on vacation. I took the money and left. This was my fourth trip there this month, I spend a lot of money at Fashion Bug because it is local, the Mall will now be seeing a lot more of me. I cannot make sense of this no matter how much I try. All I wanted was to exchange my size 16 pants for a 10.

From what you say I would agree with you that the Fashion Bug was wrong

I work for Fashion Bug and the return exchange policy is if you want to do an exchange on an item and it is the same item and I mean the same item as the sku numbers are the same and all ticket information is the same then it is an even exchange and they do not have to do anything in the computer all they have to do is take off the sensors off and that is you new pair of pants. Now if you are getting a pair of pants but they have a different sku number then they have to put the return in the computer, then you would only get the selling price within the last 60 days and since they are no longer on sale you would have to pay the difference because you do not have a receipt and you would only get a in store credit, and that is per company policy. From what you say I would agree with you that the Fashion Bug was wrong I feel that they were not listening to you and I would really would call the district manager and if she does nothing then the reginal manager and if nothing then corporate. You can also go on to Fashion Bug's web site and email someone in corporate. I hope that you can get this problem fixed. Goog luck

I worked for Fashion Bug for 7.5 years and now work for another division of the same company. I was a store manager at Fashion Bug and am still a store manager. The price difference that you experienced is not company policy. The store manager has the descrection to make the price difference as a straight exchange. Try to do the exchange without a receipt. Company policy without a receipt is that you will receive a store credit or exchange at current selling price. If this does not work, call the corporate office Charming Shoppes, Inc. in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.
