Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am writing to let everyone know in the town of Bath Ny that I was totally horrified by the treatment I recently recieved at the bath store, which by the way is typical because I have never got a nice salesperson there the whole time I have been there. my sister and herdaughter and I where all very anxious to be trying on clothes and playing around well we where back in the stalls trying on our clothes and then went about our business of going back and getting more clothes well, we thought everything was fine until the rude assitant manager came back and instead of directing her question to a adult started yelling at my niece that (how did we get back there with out a key I stated you unlocked the door for us in the stall marked #2 and than when we came back it was locked and this one was opened well I apologized to her and thought everything was ok.

Until when we where trying to get out of the stall the assistant manager proceeded to start spraying perfume which by the way I am allergic too, all around in front of the stalls and down the hall etc.. this is when I lost it I asked what she was doing spraying perfume on and around us she stated that this was custumary and I responeded I hardly doubted it since people are allergic and I wanted a better explanation because I am sorry that is lame,,she also yelled at my niece and asked her was she purposely picking up things in dropping them to the floor.this was before the perfume incident I was upset because it made me feel is though the lady was a. trying to say we stink or b. trying to get rid of us in which case niether is acceptable since we are beautiful educated people and had money to spend, the next day ironically my other sister went to the same store and she overheard the staff including the assitant manager relating the story they where saying that they should of called the cops, and that my sister told me to shut-up and all of this crap, I am upset because #1

I was trying to get to the bottom of why you would spray perfume on customers harrass them about trying on clothes that you knew that the where doing because you let them in there, I realize I was in a different stall but it was unlocked and I have done this before and also there I might add know problem so that was irratating but I let it go until I was bombarded with perfume I asked nicely I should of least got a apology not the cold respinse that got I ask for a # of a manager not assistant manager but the actually manager I also asked for the distric manager I got know response until finally I said I am sorry I don't know what your problem is I just want the #..this incident will stick in my mind and that of my nieces please let me know if you think I was wrong.

Fashion Bug Management Joke

I am a former manager of a Fashion Bug. I had numerous years of experience in sales and mgt when I was hired. I can honestly say I have never been lied to quite as much as I was when I went through their interview process. I applied for "Asst District Mgr" position in the paper. After completing most of the interview process during the actual job offer itself, I was told that I was going to be a Mgr for the local store and would have to "earn" the position. I am a hard worker, so I had no problem with that. After you are hired, you are told you NEVER get a weekend off. Very seldom get a Saturday off. I say all of that and could say much more about that, to say, the management and salespersons are pushed to the max to get credit apps, bogus or not. They are paid per credit app, there are "sales" every week, these poor women have cut back hours to run stores, no training, very little support from their management unless they are being berated for not getting their "quotas" of credit apps. Actually sales aren't their biggest drive, it's the credit apps. The managers really don't have the power to hire and fire, the district managers play the managers off of each other. I am blessed to be out of that mess and I feel sorry for any person living that nightmare. So if you are treated badly by one of the mgt or sales staff of Fashion Bug, just know they are under tremendous negative pressure. Fashion Bug doesn't create a good enviroment to work. Other people that have said they are required to hand out flyers, post illegal posters in store windows. Where I was the local ordiances forbid large posters in the window.. the manager before me was actually arrested for the infraction. The district mgr thought it was funny. Just so you understand where these salepeople and mgrs are coming from.

Instead of pointing out spelling problems...

Maybe someone should point out the lack of reading comprehension (spelling errors or not). I never ONCE read where she stated the niece was running around. The only reference to this I saw was: "my sister and herdaughter and I where all very anxious to be trying on clothes and playing around" I know that everyone has had fun "playing around" and trying on clothes, shoes, etc. I didn't take that to mean that the niece was running around wild. I also didn't get the impression that there was a young child here. THEN to bring up the point that her sister sister went in the next day and witnessed the same employers talking about the incident and claiming that the cops should have been called. It's appalling that people get treated bad in a store and then get hassled for it. I hate fashion bugs, there has never been a time that I've been in there and recieved good help.

Hello all i just wanted to say a few things about Fashion Bug. I work for Fashion Bug as a Co. Manager and there is good and bad employees. We try to weave thru the bad and get rid of them but sometimes we can only do so much. I believe the Asst. Manager was in the wrong. I have been in retail for over 13 years and you always should put the cust. first because they make or break a company. Spraying perfume around there should not have been done. We do spray in the fitting rooms but it is after the cust. are gone. We also spray FreBreeze insted of perfume. That Asst. Manager should not be in the line of work she is in if she does not know how to communicate to cust. in a manor that is perfectional. Now about the kids running around, that comes with the terr. but i do believe that parents are respon. for the kids period. I will tell a child to stop running or playing in the store and bring them to there mom and let them know that they can not do that here and it is for there safty because the racks can fall apart and the kids can run into things. I just got off the phone with another employee from another store and she is having alot of problems with the company period. Fashion Bug as a whole is a good company to work for but some District Managers seem to not know how to follow Corp. Policy's and that is when you get the wrong employees at the stores and then there are these kinds of complaints. I hope you don't think bad about all of the stores with Fashion Bug because there are really some good people working for this company and know how to treat cust.!!!! Signed A Fashion Bug Employee

After working for Fashion Bug for over 2 years, I know a bit about what goes on beyond the sales floor. Charming Shoppes puts on a wonderful front to be seen as a family oriented company; one who provides quality merchandise to women of all walks of life. HA! As a former Assistant Manager, I can tell you, in all honesty, Fashion Bug sells nothing more than second-rate garbage. The workmanship is TERRIBLE and the customer service is no better. I myself have purchased quite a bit of clothing from FB (a hefty employee discount is the main reason) About 75% of my purchases had to be returned, mainly because of defcts with the merchandise. The best part is that employees put knowingly damaged goods on the floor, hiding the defects, & then interrogating the unknowing customer when they try to return said products. Heres a hypothetical situation: A sales clerk (for whatever reason) will take a return from a customer. Lets say, a pair of pants. The sales girl may not notice at the time of the return, but later notices a very prominant, VERY unpleasent smell comming from the pants. Judging by the smell, the previous owner of the pants had sub-standard hygene habits. Rather then damage out the pants (which is VERY easy to do), the sales rep (or member of management of course) will spray heavy amounts of perfume on the garmant & place it back on the floor. Isnt it comforting to know that when you try something on, prefume is masking the scent of unwashed genitals. Not too pleasent. Fashion Bug also has the wonderful idea to hold "Charge Contests", what seem like every week. During these contests, stores compete to see who can get the most people to fill out charge applications. They make sales reps go to college campuses, walk thru inner city neighborhoods ("where people will do ANYTHING for a $3.00 coupon"~As stated by a former manager of mine), they even make sales girls solicit charges on the grounds of other retail stores, advising them to leave only if "the cops get there". The best part is that it is a known practice for sales reps to sit on the sales floor with a phone book in their laps, pick a name & address & fill out a credi card application. Woudlnt it be nice to receive a letter from FB thanking you for choosing their "wonderful" credit card??? So anyway, I guess Im done with my petty whining for now. Please dont write a bunch of nasty replies yelling at me for not knowing how to spell...I already know I cant spell :) thanks for letting me rant and rave!!

I have worked for Fashion Bug for a year. I know that the treatment you received seemed unfair, but there are policies and procedures that one must follow when shopping. First of all, like said before, it is not the staffs' responsibility to baby sit the children in the store. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for what the child does. Time after time again I walk after children, picking up ripped off tags, jewelry bars that have been torn down, etc. This is extra time and effort that I could be using to assit other customers who need my help. The manager was not upset that you were trying on clothes in the fitting room. She was most likely upset that you did not have a security tag to be in the room you were in. As company procedure, Fashion Bug is suppose to keep all fitting room doors locked. The doors are made to automatically shut once the customers walks out... Even if a customer is still trying on clothes, we have to shut the fitting room door and unlock it when she comes back with more merchandise. This is a deterant from theft. How easy would it be to walk into the fitting room (if not controlled) and stealing merchandise you try on? Several times I have caught customers trying to sneak clothes into the fitting rooms, crawling under doors with panties in their hands, and so on. I apologize for the managers spraying perfume that you were allergic too, however she most likely did not know. You should probably treat this incident the same as you would had a customer made this mistake. It is frustrating working at a retail store with hourly pay. We do not receive commission, and we barely make over minimum wage. Our job is stressful, and we often have rude customers who are not as courteous as we strive to be. Charming Shoppes tries to make quality products and have friendly, reliable, and helpful customer service. A few associates may not be as helpful as others, you can make complaints to the district manager- new sales receipts also have the corporate e mail and phone number. I know that I make it my personal goal to make every customer that I assit completely happy with her purchase. I try to assit on the floor, in the fitting room, and at the register. If the customer still cannot be satisfied, at least I can say that I tried.

If I were going to write a complaint letter in a public forum, I would want to appear as intelligent and rational as possible, as that is the image I would like to portray, and in a written complaint, spelling and grammar are two tools to use. I don't think anyone would have mentioned the letter writer's spelling or grammar, but she said that they shouldn't have been treated that way because they are "beautiful educated people". I think her personal appearance is irrelevant. She states she is educated, but her letter proves otherwise.

So, you like to think your educated no pun intended either check your spelling before you go and critique someone else's have you ever heard of hitting the wrong key, or being upset when you are writing no pun intended give me a break just because your experience is great big deal horray bottom line your address is in another state not the specific store that they were referring to. I think America needs more compassion instead of pointing fingers, glad you can handle one child with arm loads of clothes and point out that you are setting a good example by being a what judgemental twit that shops alot. God forbid if your toddler has a hard time with reading or writing no pun intended, Get off you high and mighty horse and show some compassion the customer never said she was a english teacher and never said she was right she was voicing her opinion and that probably was all she needed to do to get it off her chest. Don't judge your computer screen as always accurate as how the person spelled or even set the grammer up right. Be happy and stop being a snob.

I am responding to the lady who also responded that she goes in this store all the time and let's her child run wild and she has never had any problem with this particular store. Great for you. The reason this forum is here is to let individual's who have a complaint address it here. Instead of letting the person do that we turned it into a forum to correct spelling, grammer etc. I mean really, my college professor admitted she had problems spelling and was glad she had spell check, as far as picking apart a person for being uneducated, well that's ignorant, they must be educated enough to 1st.of all be able to acess a computer take the time to fill out forms just like you and voice there opinions just like you. So, next time you judge someone on grammer and spelling why don't you think of the correct forum to do it in like school. You should your immaturity, and by the way Elmira has a Fashion Bug so why travel over 45 minutes away??????? Give me a break with your critisism's listen to the complaint not the grammer. Compassion is surely lacking with you.

I love shopping at Fashion Bug. I shop there quite often and have never had a bad expirience to date. You stated in your complaint that you are educated...I find this hard to believe after reading all of the simple words you mispelled and the horrible grammar that you have. I suspect that you were the rude party. I take my 16 month old daughter into Fashion Bug with me and let her walk around be inquisitive as young children will be, but at the same time I would take any responsibilty for my daughter being too rambunctious. I manage to keep her under control even while I have an armful of clothing. Any responsible adult should be expected to do the same. I think maybe you should go back to school and learn how to reed and rite(pun intended). Then when you are finished with that maybe you will learn how to act in public so that your children and children around you will know how to behave. Remember all children learn from example.

I disagree totally with the consumer that responded to this, it never sd noone was watching the child and furthermore, spraying perfume on around customers is a no, no and by the way i totally agree if a customer ask for a reason she should be given a reason and I know the location of this particular store and it's staff is always rude. For you to say that the person taking the time to write down what happened to them and say it is not a rip-off is wrong don't read them if you are so judgemental it is hard enough to articulate in to words what took place and by no means did I get it was there fault this a rural area, and you are in agreement it is alright to be treated like crap when you are trying on clothes that usually means the sales staff is helpful because they want to make a sale...Give me a break Arizona you are the rude one........

Filing a rip off report on this incident is baloney. You state that your nieces running around and playing while you and your sister were running back and forth trying on mounds of clothes? It was your sister's responisbility to watch the children, not the sales staff. Apparently this was causing enough of a scene for the Manager to confront you about it, you are the wrong party. As for the perfume, I don't think she was spraying at you - but dressing areas can get stinky and stuffy so that is understandable. Its not like she KNEW you were allergic. You sound like an obnoxious family that need to learn how to conduct themselves in public.
