ffAug.17,00 i was opening the store that day,i was there by myself for four hour before anyone came in that day ,that not the only time i had to do that,we can't even go to the bathroom because no one is there to watch the front.I WAS ON THE REGISTER WHEN THIS GUY CAME IN,i saw him come in ,he had noting in his hand the reason i know this is we have the three c's,customer awareness, customer service,& customer appreciation, that how i new he walked out with something in his hand.

We were told we can not stop anyone in the store we have to wait until we know they aren't takeing in the items outside. I told my manager Helen Miller what happen, she told me in front of my daughter that i did the right thing. Then she asked me if i checked his trucked, i told her i couldn't because i couldn't leave family dollar with out getting fired. She said that's right. When i asked the guy, did you by any mistake walked out with anything by mistake, he started going around in a circle saying search me, search me. There was a customer that saw him and what he did.

So on AUG.24,00 when Helen came back from a manager meeting she told me to get off register at 6:00pm because i just came back from lunch. She was telling me that the guy had called in a report om saying he was going to file a law suite on family dollar. I was told that she had to let me go because the head office& DM said she had to, i asked two time you are fireing me, she said yes.

Well after that i got up saying good bye and went and clocked out. Helen said, "Sara, you got to sign this paper i told her i was not, she said, Sara you got the keys. So i turned them in and put them on the bleach box, then went home. When i got home my husband asked me why i was home early i told him, he called Helen and asked what was going on, she told him she was order to let me go.

There is more things. This was a setup by her. If head office found out about her husband handeling the money & paper work plus he left an iou in my draw for money he took out. There is even much more. I also have statements from some other employees.

I started working at Family Dollar Store about 2 months ago and from day one they were trying to find a reason to fire me. My first day on the job I opened and closed I was left in the store almost all day by my self. I was only allowed one break a day I was not allowed to walk out to smoke,And that was only if I opened and closed. I had to work the register all day put out stock and then I was expected to sweep and mop the entire floor after working all day long.. Well since I was the only person working there that was not the same race they tried everything to get me to quit but I wouldn't One of the assistant Managers would bring her kids to work she only has 5 of them and they stayed under neath me. And the manager always brougt his son, while the other assistant would bring her baby. I thought it was aginst the rules to bring your kids to work. I would not even use the phone because I felt that it was not right while running the register. Then other people would get on my register while I went to the bath room.. I got upset about it but nothing was done about it.. Well finially a woman came in and she had two seprate orders well I had rung up all the things she had on the first order and the assisatant manager came over and I thought she was going to help me bag and I asked the lady to hold up something for me to scan forgetting that he lady told me it was seprate well the lady said well don't worry about this stuff and her and her daughter went to put it back up well the assistant manager tryed saying that the woman and her daughter was shoplifting because she decided not to get the other stuff and the assistant manager told her to leave the store or she was going to call the police and say she was trying to shoplift.. They were not, when the lady and her daughter came back up front I asked her what about the stuff that I had rung up and she was in tears and said that she was told to leave the store so she didn't purchase any thing well she still pressed charges on the lady and her daughter and they did not do any thing wrong at all.. had told the lady to leave and the lady said that she didn't want anyting if she was going to be treated like that. Well she called the cops and said the the woman and her little daughter was shoplifting they did not do anything wrong... Well I was suspended because she said that I stood there and watched the lady bag up a couple of things.. I could not figure out how the stuff got in the bag because I did not bag anything up and the lady or her daughter did not either and then I saw someone that was in the store when all of this was going on and he told me that he saw a little boy take the stuff that was in a basket and put it in a bag he had been underneath me all day he was bagging everything for me and people was giving him money for doing it.. But the Manager and both assistant managers got upset when this man went and told them what he had saw.. I was told that I would start out at making 6 dollars an hour but I was only getting paid 5.50 but the other girls that got hired on after me that didn't know any thing was making 6.00 an hour... I was also told that if I came up short on my register 2 times that I would be fired I never came up short but one of the other girls did I read the paper work and she is still there.. This was wrong, They were looking for some reason to get rid of me and that was the only thing that they could come up with.. there is so much that is going on at that store but it would take to long to put everything down... Something needs to be done to help protect us from this...

There is obviously a problem here, well many if you read clearly. You don't support an employee's actions, then turn around and fire that person for the same actions that you supported. A underlying hint of poor, if any training for management on what proceedure is. No one should have to wait four hours to use the restroom at their place of employment let alone obviously not get a break durring that time. This is illegal and abusive. Mom and Pop businesses which are few and far between don't even run this way. There are laws to protect employee's whose companies don't look out for their interest. As for this employee response, I'm missing what rule "Sara" was busted for breaking. It was clear they understood the store managers infractions, I'm surprised this responding employee didn't see the company responsibility for this overall poor work environment along with negligense toward Sara's well being.

I am also an employee of Family Dollar and I love it. It sounds like you had a bad manager for one. And if she did the things you said, then she should have been reported to your D.M., if that wasn't satisfactory then you could have went a step further and contacted the Regional manager.

You talked about how "Helen" had her family in the store and that was against the rules(it definitely is) But I also read where your family was there too(daughter). Going the chain of command is always the best way to solve a problem. And, you should have known who they were since apparently you was in management(you had to turn your keys in).

So, are you upset because you got busted for breaking the rules and she didn't?
Also, you could have contacted home office about her husband handling the money and you had your proof, you said he left an IOU in the drawer.
