I recently noticed a mistaken charge of $9.95 on my credit card from ews-design.com. I have no idea what this company is or how they obtain my credit card information. After trying to contact the company several times through both phone and email, i have recieved no response. i did some basic research (whois) and found the aparent chain of support to be as such: ews-design.com is hosted (nameserver) by devbill hosting inc. (developer billing company from ny, ny), which in turn registered the domain from registerfly.com which is a reseller of domains for enom.com

enom, possibly the only truly reputable company of the bunch, has no real information to offer me on the subject, but seems responsive and interested in helping at least. registerfly has no phone number to contact anybody, and their on line support has yet to help me. they seem very shady, in general. devbill hosting has no internet presence (their webpage has only the word "test" on it) and was recently created. ews-desin.com purports to sell website templates for $9.95, i have no idea if they actually sell these or not. however, on their homepage there is a link that says, " What is EWS-DESIGN.com billing me for?". when you follow the link, they ask you to provide more info, like phone number and such. i did not fill out that information, as i was scared they would use it against me. i did however call them and left a message. i'm scared about this as well, but if they were reputable they would need a way to contact me.

i will continue to try to contact them, and have my credit card company look into it, but i fear i will never have an answer to how they got my credit card info. anybody else experience this or anything like this?

I, too, had the bogus $9.95 charge show up on my credit card statement from ews-design. It was easy to spot as I had not used the card for almost a year. The card was literally locked in a safe. Previously, I had used the card at paypal and several online companies (amazon.com, buy.com). The card number must have been obtained from a database of some online company. There may be more than one database that ews-design is drawing from.

I too have been charged by EWS-Design for $9.95. Charged 3/22/04. I don't have cable through Comcast, as Rick and Jon both do, so I'm not too sure that they are the source of the "credit card leak" as stated above. Hopefully I'll be able to get my money back...

I have Comcast Cable and Paypal use in common with the above person. My guess is that Comcast has a credit card leak. I gave the number to a rep over the phone, to pay a monthly bill.

here are some of my things...i would have prefered to be more private about this, but this board (probably for a good reason) edited my last update to omit my email adress. so here are a few of my online card activities: paypal, microsoft online, comcast cable, jubilee chocolates (awesome chocolates btw). other than that, pretty much just local card use i think. any of these things ring a bell? post here, if so and we will catch these guys. thanks
