Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I was charged much more than what we discussed in the initial quote. High dollar items were missing with no resolution when my items were delivered. The movers never came to my residence. It was all done online. I was quoted a price then when the mover arrived the price had increased. I had to sign the contract in order for them to load my belongings in the truck.

The mover left many items behind, which I had to move myself. Additional charges were added once they had my furniture, for storage. It was difficult to arrange delivery then they didn't show up on the first day that we had agreed on for delivery. Several items were never delivered, including an 600.00 floor lamp. We called the mover as requested and he never returned our calls.

My initial contact Harold at 516 210 4941, then Joseph B**** at 888 777 8066/877 240 1329. Also Connie at 877 611 6684 ext 3. Every time I called her, she gave me a different number. 779 771 6130 and 877 989 2442. The mover's name is Mike at 224 735 0750.

This paragraph alone has several things you either did or assumed that you should never have done.

The initial quote you received over the telephone is meaningless - moving contracts are always (and I mean always) in writing.  Therefore, nothing that is said over a phone should ever be relied upon for anything.  One of the problems with choosing a mover online is that you can never truly depend upon them to deliver the goods they initially picked up.  They get lost and if they don't label anything properly, then it is probably gone.

The idea that consumers give all of their valuable goods to someone they didn't meet until the day of the move is ridiculous.  You need to trust the people who perform your move and handle your belongings.  How can you ever do that online?  Answer - you can't.  Any mover who doesn't come see what needs to be moved is someone you shouldn't trust with your possessions.  Finally, the price didn't really increase when they got there because the price they gave you over a telephone doesn't count.  And since you don't ave a contract with the mover, they won't load belongings in the truck until you sign the contract.  The price on the written contract is the price for the move.

Additional charges were added once they had my furniture, for storage. It was difficult to arrange delivery then they didn't show up on the first day that we had agreed on for delivery. Several items were never delivered, including an 600.00 floor lamp. We called the mover as requested and he never returned our calls.  Well, this part isn't clear, but it sounds like you asked that the items be placed in storage.  If so, then yes you would be charged for storage and then a charge for transit out.  I'm not sure why you're complaining about the storage charges if you asked them to have the items placed there.  As far as a missing $600 floor lamp, yeah that happens with a cut-rate company and storage.  Again, another really good reason to never trust anyone online to perform a move for you.

Moving is not inexpensive.  Find a mover close to your origin point and have them perform a survey of what needs to be moved.  Have them quote you in pounds, not in cubic feet.  If they won't come out to see what needs to be moved - no matter what excuse they give you - that mover should be disqualified from consideration.  If the pricing from an agent of United, Allied, Atlas, Bekins, North American, or a few others is too expensive for you, then you should DIY the move.  Don't go back online thinking you are going to get a better deal because you won't.  You will either pay upfront, or pay in damaged, lost, or destroyed items on the back end.
