Evans Glass Refused to give estimate unless I was prepared to purchase Seattle Washington
Yesterday, a representative of Evans Glass came to the door, offering a free estimate on replacement windows, with an offer of a $25 Shell gas card for agreeing to an estimate.
I told her I was not in a position to purchase anytime soon, but she said that was no problem. They'd just give me the information on costs for future reference. I agreed and she gave me a postcard with a special offer of 25% off plus $125 discount on each window. The salesman came to the door this morning, but when he discovered I was not going to buy anytime soon, he said he would just tell the office that I had "reconsidered" and he wasn't going to give me any pricing purportedly so that I could use the "special offer" at a later date, since I wasn't going to buy now. I told him I simply wanted to know what the cost was likely to be for future reference. He waffled. I tore up the special offer card in front of him, and said, okay, now don't worry about the special offer, just tell me the cost. Still waffled. I told him it was bogus and left him standing on the porch. Don't accept the offer of a free $25 gas card in exchange for their free estimate. You won't be getting an estimate if you don't commit to buying.
