Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchsed tanning equipment from ETS, incorporated. From day one we have had endless problems with the company as well as the equipmet. They shipped the 4 units in boxes and left it up to us to put the huge tanning beds together. We spent well over 16,000 dollars on equipment that in the past year has brken down at least once a month, hot liquid shooting out of the pistons in the beds while clients have been in them, pieces literally breaking off the units, the beds have no preformance and are basically junk.

I have made call after call after call to this company to try and rectify this situation but no one seems to want to help. My last resort was to fly to nashville tenn, to the tanning show so I could peronally speak with someone, a person and try to explain to them that I am loosing my business due to the poor customer support that they have had. They still did not remotely try to help.

I requesting that they take back these units that are just a year old, I have sent certified letters, spoke with upper management and they straight out told me that I am stuck with these units. This company does not stand behind there product. I wasted 16,000 and basically on the edge of loosing my business because of the faulty equipment.

Tanning beds don't cause cancer? Are you out of your mind?

http://www.skincancer.org/artificial/index.php Please read the URL above. You can NOT tell me tanning beds are not complicit in cancer. TANNING BEDS WILL CAUSE SKIN CANCER THEY ARE ADDICTIVE You make your money by convincing people it's not a cancer causing agent. It is. On top of that have you ever seen the UV pictures of people who have tanned? You can see extreme skin damage and they look like crap even with out the filter. Tanning is nasty. Tanning is bad. It will kill you and it will make you look like a weathered old hag. Now that said, if you have exploding oil in a tanning bed, holy S**T I'd sue. With out a question. I'd sue the crap out of the owner and the company. I hope you all feel good about yourselves. You're shortening life expectancies and ruining the quality of many peoples lives. Your careers are propagated upon a lie, that tan is beautiful. It isn't. This is just another example of the harm tanning does.

I can help you with your beds

I am in the tanning bed business and can help you get your beds working again. I wish I could personally talk to you but I don't think it is allowed so I will give you some advice. I know alot of people that work there because I used to a very large customer. I have seen people get ignored but most of the time it was because they were talking to what they thought was upper management but really to someone who had too much time on their hands and was playing with you. Here's my suggestion. You don't have to go Nashville but get on the phone and first talk to Ron Wilson and tell him big Jim from Mississippi told you to call him about this problem. The President of the company is Bill Pipp who I also know very well, but we will start with Ron because he is a good guy and will help you. The reason your shocks or pistons as you called them are leaking you might have them upside down. make sure the silver part is at the bottom and the large part is on the top. If you installed them upside down that will make them leak and blow the seals. By the price mentioned you must have Sunstar 32 lamp beds. They have a 4 year warranty and they will send you the parts. You have to do your own repairs or pay someone to fix it for you. About the pieces falling off them, I can't imagine what that is. The works is in a drawer underneath, the top is one piece, the skirting locks on, the only thing left is the acrylic may have slipped out. Alot of time I have people call me and say I have a really big problem and I say we'll it's big to you but little to me. The beds should do the job and I have one just like yours and it works fine. If Ron will give you my number call me. I saw hm in Nashville about 2 years ago and he knows me well, We have been on vacation together, talked on the phone, played slots at the casino together. he used to call me "double, double" So maybe he will catch on fast and for me he will help you out. Good luck!

I have a tanning canopy from ETS and itis great.Definitely report your problems to the FDA if that REALLY happened. And also-two comments on here were wrong.People say things(especially tanning salon owners)that are false and ignorant.ANY UV light can cause skin cancer.Doesn't mean it will-no one knows WHy a particular person will develope skin cancer.Yes-you put yourself at a higher risk tanning in the sun OR a bed,but you also cannot always totally cover yourself from the sun.It is not possible.People just need to know that some behaviors may increase your likelyhood-and then again, you may tan every d**n day for forty years and be fine.So the best thing is to do what you want and watch your skin carefully for any changes and have those looked at by a doctor.Happy Tanning!---And PS-Why do some people turn orange even in real sunlight??Hmmmmm....

ABOUT THE MALINOMA SKIN CANCER; I HAVE A BROTHER WHOM IS A HYPOCHONDRIAC AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS UNTIL READING THIS. AS FOR THE FOUR BAD UNITS, YOU REALLY NEED TO CHECK THE MAINTENANCE DONE ON YOUR PART. BOTH MY CLIENTS AND MYSELF HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED WITH MY UNITS. OTHER THAN NORMAL DAMAGED ACRYLIC AND BULBS THEY HAVE BEEN GREAT. NOTHING LAST FOREVER. I WOULD NOT WASTE MY TIME BUYING FROM ANYONE OTHER THAN ETS!!!!

Pleased with ETS Beds.

I am a salon owner with five ETS beds. The beds were simple to assemble with just myself (a small female) and a medium sized man. The beds have worked wonderfully the five years I have owned them, with no down time other than typical cracked acrylic from heavy tanners. (The beds were bought at different times throughout the past five years.) I did experience a shock absorber problem, where the canopy slowly closed when left in the open position. The bed was under warranty and a whole new set of shocks was shipped to me within two days. A three year old bed is having a facial switch problem, but the replacement part is inexpensive. Perhaps the consumer who experienced such difficulty was unable to provide the dates of purchase, serial numbers and warranty info, or assembled the beds incorrectly; or failed to perform regular preventative maintenance. Our salon staff also spends one day a month "deep cleaning" the beds and rooms (in addition to daily surface cleaning and weekly check ups) to ensure proper ventilation and minimize dust buildup. I would not hesitate to purchase from ETS again, but due to this article, I will be certain to question whether the bed is manufacturer new.

ETS Unit Owner

I have five ETS tanning beds in my salon. Three of my units are two years old, one is 1 year old, and I just purchased my 5th unit last month. I have been extremely pleased with my units personally. I believe that if you have a faulty unit, that ETS would have no problem honoring the warranty included with the bed. However, you have a responsibility to have an electrician check the voltage before your bed is hooked up to make sure it is within the recommended guidelines, and to use a buck booster if necessary. It is possible you got some bad beds, but it seems highly unlikely that if you purchased several beds that all would be lemons with no fault of your own. Also, I would like to respond to the person who said that they used the ets tanning bed for 6 months and now have skin cancer as a result. Was this the first time you have ever been exposed to UV light, indoor or outdoor? Tanning beds do not cause skin cancer. Over exposure, irresponsible tanning, past sun exposure history, age, skin sensitivity, skin type, etc. are all factors in your skin condition. I think that blaming the manufacturer of the unit is alittle nieve. I would suggest that salon owners evaluate their clients carefully. Do a short pre-tan interview and find out about the history of their skin, evaluate their skin type, and make suggestions on a tanning "program" that would be best for them to achieve results without extreme damage to their skin. Maybe if the salon owner in question would done alittle evaluation and used a tanning program she wouldn't have the skin condition she has. Regardless of such, it isn't the ETS but the tanner that is responsible for their skin. Sincerely,

In reference to the person who had year old ETS equipment with "ENDLESS PROBLEMS" Learn to hook up your beds correctly. You obviously have no idea how to do it if you were shocked to find out that the beds would be shipped to you in boxes! Think about it. I have a salon built completely on ETS EQUIPMENT and have spent well over 16 grand, and have never ever once had a problem in the three years that they have been running. I have gotten only positive feedback from employees and clients regarding our beds, and love them. I understand that ETS may not have the best support, but keep trying and i can guarentee you you can fix any problem you are having. Or, maybe think twice before opening a salon if you know nothing about tanning beds.

I purchased a bed from ETS Sept 07, 2001 - Solaris 32 3F I was told the bed was brand new and come to find out by the electrician, the bed was used. When calling ETS, never did I get any calls back Finally I spoke w/ the manager of Sales. He, after beating around the bush, told me my bed was a Floor Model (who's to say thats the truth) then I was PROMISED all NEW PARTS to replace the dented/ scratch / missing ones I never received any information on my bed. The bed was suppose to have warning labels etc written on it. However it didnt, whos to say this bed wasnt used and was returned faulty? After 6 months use I have Melanoma Skin Cancer.. I think ETS needs to get their product together before they KILL someone!

Sun lamps as used on tanning beds, as well as the beds or booths, are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in addition to about one-half of the states. Since the FDA regulates the manufacturing process any malfunctions or inadequacies in the product that could result in injury to the user must be reported as a product defect. The description of this bed spouting hot oil, as well as other problems which may include electrical, physical, or fire hazards may require the manufacturer to correct the problem or be subject to FDA action. I would urge the writer to contact the FDA either by telephone, letter, or on-line. The contact information may be found at www.fda.gov/
