I have now received 5 emails from a guy named Kevin Robinson of Esper law firm stating I'm being sued by Quick Payday. I've never done business with this company. This person has my personal information. The emails are saying I'm being charged for 6 things including internet fraud, theft by deception and check fraud. It states they will contact my employer and have my wages garnished and could have jail time. Its to the point, I'm getting worried because the harassing emails aren't stopping. I've already filed a report with the consumer department of the attorney general. I am also in the process of filing a police report for identity theft.

I am a bankruptcy and consumer protection attorney. One of my clients recieved this e-mail also.

I assure you this is a complete scam. The language contained in the e-mails makes no sense whatsoever to any practicing attorney and the misuse of legal terms and threats of criminal prosecution are a sure sign of a scam. You can simply ignore these e-mails, or do like I do and harass them unmercifully until they leave you alone.

There are a lot of these scams going around right now, a lot of them target bankruptcy filers. There is no "Esperlaw" and I bet my bottom dollar this did not come someone named "Kevin Robinson." This scam is probably not even based in the United States, based on the misuse of common legal terms and language.

No legitimate collection firm or attorney will threaten you with criminal action. It is illegal to do so.

This payday loan collection scam is currently the #1 scam going on and thousands are falling for it.  Just look around this site, you will find hundreds of similiar complaints.   Dispute it, tell them you know it's a scam and then forget all about it.
