Resulting from a class action settlement, I was to receive a $365 credit to purchase computer equipment (or $62.50 cash). According to the documents I received, the equipment was to be purchased from secondipity.com. I signed the agreement based upon the representations made.
I just received the certificate to redeem the proceeds of the settlement. Now I am told that "you may obtain any Acer, eMachines, or Gateway desktop, laptop, tablet, notebook, netbook, ultrabook, or accessorty that is available at www.emachinesredeem.com. Previous documents referred to www.secondipity.com, which is not the correct website..."
Both websites contained refurbished computers, which is understandable. However, secondipity has loads of high quality, fantastic IPads, whereas emachinesredeem has nothing of comparable quality--Windows 8 tablets, which have been panned by critics.
The equipment on secondipity is offered for substantially less than the price when new. Some of the prices at emachinesredeem are higher than the same stuff at Amazon.
A ripoff to settle a ripoff.
