I have been having some trouble with eMachines lately. One of the programs that came with my computer, The eMachines Help and Support Center, quit working properly about 2 months ago. Since my computer is now out of warranty, I am forced to use their other support options. This includes emailing them or contacting them via Live Online Chat.

This is impossible! In the past 2 months, I have sent about 10 emails and have attempted to use their Live Chat 4 times. I have yet to this day received a response to any of my emails and the Live Chat is a joke. Each time I have used it, I have waited 1-2 hours for a representive and never got one. One time I was even waiting PASSED the time they had closed.

Today I contacted eMachines by phone to explain the situation to them and they responded with "We are sorry for the inconviences caused but we will have to charge you $20 to help you". From this reply the only feeling I got was that their free online support is a fraud and they are trying to force us to pay them $20 each time the computer is working incorrectly.

Now I know what most of you will say, "Your computer is out of warranty, what do you expect?". This may be true but I do not feel this is fair as people whom buy their computers now have the option of getting extended warranty, which they did not offer until I was 1 month from expiration of my warranty. When I attempted to buy it, which by the way costs $199 for 2 more years, they told me I could not as it was too late in my warranty.

Therefore, I am only able to use their free online support options which they never respond to. IMHO this is flat out fraud and would love to have eMachines respond to this one, but then again, they don't respond to emails why would they respond to this?

Do not buy eMachines unless you wish to waste money on a computer that breaks down just about every other month.

I just recently came across this site and upon reading on emachines' website(www.emachines.com), I just thought that some of you would like to know that the company was brought over by Gateway in 2004.I'm guessing it's the transition that could be causing the problems with rebates and customer service but they do seem to be good systems...i dont know and I dont own an emachine, just sharing info.
