To see pictures of the damage Elite Moving & Storage did to our household goods, please go to theelitemovers.info/

1. Elite Moving & Storage lost the custom made 4 X 6 Koa Wood base to our waterbed, a small, 2 X 5 solid walnut coffee table, a white kitchen step stool, and a gray hand truck.

2. We had several fragile pieces of pottery broken due to improper wrapping and packing.

3. Two of our Navajo pots were damaged due to improper wrapping.

4. A set of 8 Lenox salad plates were completely destroyed. They were placed in a cardboard box on their side with no additional wrapping. My wife specifically asked the movers to individually wrap each plate. This they did not do.

5. None of the cardboard boxes were labeled as to which room they were from or where they were to go to. As a result, most of the boxes were stacked in the garage at our new home. Over a period of days, I had to open each carton, determine its contents, carry it to the appropriate room and unpack it.

6. The inventory sheets are virtually illegible and do not identify the room of origin for any carton.

7. We were quoted $3,900.00 for a full pack move and I gave Suzie Sharaby (the move estimator), my credit card and she charged $100.00 against my account as a deposit.

8. When the household goods were 95% loaded on the truck, Adam (the packing manager), told me he would have to revise the quoted estimate. His revised amount was $6,400.00. When I balked at that amount, he revised it down to $5,400.00 with the proviso that I write a positive comment about the move to the revised written estimate. I did so reluctantly, since I felt any such comments should be appended after the delivery.

9. I then wrote Adam a check for $5,400.00 for the move. However, I forgot that I had already paid $100.00 as a deposit. I have requested Elite Moving & Storage refund this $100.00 overpayment but I have yet to receive a refund.

10. Included in the revised estimate was $1,100.00 for the packing materials. Counting the number of boxes after unpacking and multiplying that number by the prices on the packing materials charges sheet, the total comes to $503.00. This figure does not include tape, wrapping paper and a very minimal amount of bubble wrap but I cannot believe the latter add up to $593.00.

One of our large watercolor paintings was damaged when the glass broke due to improper protective packaging. It was simply wrapped with 3 crumpled sheets of newsprint and a blanket. there was no bubble wrap or cardboard surrounding the painting, as the packers ran out of bubble wrap. They did not bring any padded picture paper, even though we had specifically stated the need for it.

The round, convex glass on an antique clock was broken.

Over all, the packing job consisted of dumping drawers and shelves into cardboard shipping boxes with no thought to individually wrapping any item.

None of the clothing wardrobes had metal cross bars to hang clothing. The clothes were simply dumped into the bottom of the wardrobes.

We left the CDs, DVDs and video tapes in the credenza as Elite Moving & Storage requested but when the unit was shipped standing on end, the drawer broke, due to the weight and unusual position of the drawer.

Two antique clocks were shoved in a cardboard box of office equipment (fax machine, radio, telephone, etc.) with no wrapping of individual items.

In summary, this move was a nightmare. The packing of our household items was certainly not up to any normal industry standards and yet we were charged top dollar. Because we did not pay for replacement insurance, Elite Moving & Storage is apparently only liable for .60/pound/item. Elite Moving & Storage did offer us an additional $500.00 in addition to the .60/pound/item. We estimate our losses in this move at $4,825.00. Conversations with a lawyer indicate that Elite Moving & Storage is not liable for their incompetent packing job and that we would have to prove they intentionally lost and damaged our goods to have a case. Consequently, we have written off our loss.

Needless to say, we wish we had not chosen Elite Moving & Storage to move us!
