While most of EDS (Sabre) is a good company..

I wish to point out there are sections of this company that while not a true ripoff or illegal...is definately underhanded and incompetent in method.

I was a happy employee and doing decent job as a TPF Operator for several months.

A position that I fit perfectly opened up.

Position was rexx programming which fit me as I was the primary batch (JCL) analyst at my last true programming job, and utilized rexx heavily in the last few years and co-developed rexx code to enhance coversion efforts between legacy & new schedulers.

I interviewed for the posiiton and was hired.

My mgmt requested a 3-week notice, and the new mgmt gave it.

4.5 days into the new position, without having yet had a chance to really perform (wasnt even given a laptop to access till day 4, and not given related documentation to review till I had access till day 3.5).

On day 5 was told by new manager that they forgot to get the PO approved. (later found out this was a partial lie).

Thinking things were on the up&up, I waited 2 weeks for them to fix things... In the meantime my former position in TPF was backfilled.. If I had known I was about to be screwed out of the new job, I would have gone back to TPF and await the PO.

I found out from (friends on the inside) that Renee Hitechew lied and never really had a PO intended to hire me or at least was using that to get rid of people.

I was never even given a chance to prove my:

2 years of JCL-batch heavy production REXX use.

10 years of VM heavy Rexx use.

I would have been very helpful in their efforts to improve/develope automation at Sabre.

Be aware, EDS/Sabre is in some areas, a cutthroat and almost criminal organization and will rip you off on your payroll too.

IN TPF they work you 3-4 days a week 12yr days.

Great in that you get 3-4 days off a week and can do other things (I myself worked other projects on days off from tpf).

Bad in that you cannot incurr overtime, and if you do you are required to somehow 'move' that time to a future timesheet or otherwise report >40 hours some other way.

In my case, I was required by recruiter & EDS mgmt to put any hours over 40 on the next paychk which would put that weeks >40 on the next following too... forever forcing a >40 on almost all chks.

The lie about having a study that proved their way was best, is a very big lie... (I chked with high up former EDS mgmt, that was never a real study, its just a way for EDS to save money by screwing the employee).

Lesson overall, is that I no longer will accept a new job unless they confirm the PO is in place.

(exception: if I am not already working somewhere, I might risk it, but only if I dont already have other jobs lined up).

per a friend who is both a lawyer and a former eds. I can sue the company the next time I am rejected per this blacklist. Fortunately there is a good chance that those who maintained one are no longer there.

I heard from one of the people who would have been my coworker in that group that she was let go.... Per him it was partially due to the same stuff she did to me was done to others. Unfortunately, it doesnt remove the fact that she had me blackballed forever from being able to work there. But then I wouldnt want to considering that they pay a substandard wage.

#7UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thu, February 01, 2007

I transferred with EDS from Ohio to Alabama 10 years ago because it was considered a "secure position" at a "safe account". Well, yesterday I was given notice that my job will be consolidated with another and I will be out of work as of March 15th. So much for 27 years of employment. There was no opportunity to go to the job that was taking mine. No offer of any kind whatsoever. This company has made our lives a living hell for the past 8 months. You never knew when you would be pecked on the shoulder by a manager with a box telling you to pack up and get out. I'm told I should feel lucky that I was given some time but I find it hard to be thankful. I left my family to move to another state with this company. I had so many years with them that I actually thought I had no choice. Now what choice to I have? I'm out of a job after devoting so many years with them. I am absolutely devastated. They care nothing of taking away peoples livlihood. I am a single woman and now, at age 50, must try to find employment elsewhere. EDS makes me sick and have done so for quite awhile. They care nothing of the people that run their business. Their only concern is how to make more money. I understand it's a company's primary objective to make money, don't get me wrong. But to treat their employees in the manner in which they do should be considered a crime. They eleviated the stress of constantly looking over my shoulder but have added much more by pushing me out the door after so many years of service. Anyway, EDS will lose this huge contract they fought hard to win 10 years ago and well they should. Thank you EDS for my employment of 27 years only to cast me out like a piece of garbage!
