If only I would have found this web site before we had the direcway - earthlink mess installed last July 2002.

I won't go into the horrid details of this terrrible experience. All I can say between the cost of installing the system, monthly chages from earthlink, having computer consultants coming to our home, and spending hours upon hours on the telephone talking to tech support -- level #1 - then after many hours - level #2, we have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars and there has not been a two week period that we have not had some sort of problem.

Even earthlink level #2 personnel did not always give me the truth about what might be causing my problems. I just recently was told -- even though I have had this problem since the beginning - OUTlook Express is not compatible with earthlink software and there would be no value to write a trouble ticket for this problem. If only someone would have just told me that was the case I would then use their web email if that was the only way I would not have POP errors.

We have had three different companies come out to check out hardware. Each company said the satellite was either installed incorrectly or CPU problems, or our operating system. We got new cpu with much more memory completely reinstalled our programs, and updated from micrsoft mellenium to XP and still things are no better. Now 4/18/03 we have been without a two way satellite system and are waiting for that 3rd company to come and replace sat. arm and repoint same. I have to many case #s and trouble ticket numbers and situations to bore you with details.

Earthlink and it's sales office did not represent the facts as you will discover once you are connected and are committed to a year of costly monthly fees, consulting fees if you are not very computer literate, and down time. Tried to call Hughes directly, but because we signed with earthlink, they would not speak to us. But from reading other posts looks as if Direcway is not any better.

How can these companies get away with such fraud. Is it because you cannot speak to a real live person face to face and/or even speak to the same tech might be familiar with your situation.

I am so angry.
