I belonged to JPS ISP for about a year and a half and paid a year in advance. My service averaged out to $11.50 a month. Unfortunately the ISP (I'm Suckiest Provider) Earthlink bought JPS and I immediately canceled because they jacked up our rates to $21.95 a month with no rate decrease if you paid a year in advance. I requested my refund and was told it would take 60 days. That time frame in itself is crap. This was back in Aug. of 2001. I still have not received my refund. Earthlink keeps giving me the run around and telling me that it's Mindsprings responsibility and Mindspring keeps telling me it's Earthlinks responsibilty. When you call Earthlink of Mindspring each company refers you to the other company. Their customer abuse iliterates give me a different story each time I call. I've been told the check's in the mail, the check wont be mailed for 60 working days (well past that at this point), "I don't know what's going on" (at least that was honest), "I'll find out what's going on and call you back" (I've never received a call back), "here's my direct line" (which turned out to be a bogus phone number). Every time I've called I've asked for a supervisor and they literally will not put me through to a supervisor. Their supervisors and too chicken s**t to take my call. I turned them into the BBBOnline and they did their part and per the BBB: "to date, we have not had the courtesy of a written reply from Earthlink..." I NEVER give up. I'm now preparing to sue in small claims for the maximum small claims amount and will include their shareholders (JANUS Capital, Sprint,INVESCO, Smith Barney Peachtree, Apple Computer to name a few). I enjoy a good fight especially when I know I'm in the right. I've heard other Earthlink horror reports so beware.

"My service averaged out to $11.50 a month. Unfortunately the ISP (I'm Suckiest Provider)" Actually, as an ex-JPS customer, I know they went under and were bought out by ONEMAIN, before Earthlink, because they couldn't afford to run their buisness for that amount of money. Also, ONEMAIN jacked up the prices to 19.95, Earthlink's have been 21.95 for a while, also, we were notified 3 mo's in advance. Also "I'm suckiest provider" is childish. "Earthlink bought JPS and I immediately canceled because they jacked up our rates to $21.95 a month with no rate decrease if you paid a year in advance." There you're just wrong. I didn't get it at 138.00 for the year like I did with JPS, however they did discount my rate considerably and instead of 239.40 (19.95x12) I got it for 195.50.
