I purchased in the Ocean Walk community which was formerly a property being developed by another more upscale builder. The amenities were fabulous. Great community center, great pool (indoor and outdoor with a fantastic lazy river). It had a great layout and a beautiful lighted fountain. Unfortunately, the original builder could not finish the development and it was purchased by D.R. Horton.
The ammenities are not so great these days. D.R. Horton seems more interested in building homes and paving the parking lot of the sales center rather than keeping up the beautiful lake with lighted fountain which was the centerpiece of the development. They seem to want to make the HOA pay for everything rather than fronting some money to keep the place up until the HOA can afford it.
The lighting to the entrance of the communithy is pitiful compared to neighborhoods just down the street. There are HORRIBLE iron stains on the streets from the irrigation which is apparently being fed from a well rather than city water. The beautiful lights in the fountain in the main lake have been burnt out for months! and the fountains at the entrance are constantly being repaired because apparently they cannot find a way to permanently fix the problem.
I understand that a HOA is responsible for the ammenities but one would think that D.R. Horton would be glad to keep up a place until they sell out and it can maintain itself but I guess they are willing to let the place go to pot as long as they are selling houses.
D.R. Horton, you have enough money to keep this place up until you sell out or you should not have purchased a property of this nature. Come on, pay a few hundred dollars to fix a fountain light, remove stains on the main street coming into the property and fix the lighting at the entrance and the fountains there too. Please make it look like a prime property again at least until the HOA can sustain itself. You are making plenty of profit on the houses you sell all over the counrty. Come off with a little to at least replace light bulbs and other simple fixes on a property.
