Complaint Review: Doug Coleman Trucking - London Ontario

Doug Coleman Trucking, where do i even start.

For starters lets just say, my first day i was put in a truck and hired on the spot just because i knew how to drive a truck, they didnt test my knowledge they didnt see if i could do a proper pre trip inspection. They promised that i would be making 17.75 an hour which i thought was awesome. they also told me that i could expect to work lots of hours because he has contracts with CANADA POST, CANADIAN TIRE, DOLLARAMA, FORD, TOYOTA, and a few other local companies.  i started off working a fair bit of hours and making decent money, that is until i started paying attention to my hours worked vs hours paid.  theres a few pays where they have me anywhere between 20 and 40 hours short!  What they fail to tell you is that you may be making 17.75 an hour, now 18.15 however no matter what i only get paid for 6 hours a day, they do this thing where the driver works, fills out thier time, for example, start at 9 pm, and get done by 4 am, 5 am whichever depending on traffic and hold ups, but he will only pay you for 6 hours, no matter what, only 6 hours, and if your run happens to be faster then you get paid less... you dont get paid for the time you put in for your pre trip your post trip, fueling, or any wait times. they tell you that you can fill out an "internal" to get paid, ive filled out multiple "internals" and only ever had 2 signed off on and its because it was due to shunting extra loads and not extra time it took for a run.

As it stands over a 5.5 month period he owes me just over 3000 in unpaid wages! they informed me 1 week prior that my license was going to expire so i had to go re do it, i was broke because he doesnt pay what he is supposed to so i asked for an advance so i could get it done and not miss work ( other drivers and Dispatch told me i should as for the advance because its what they had to do and they got it) they didnt give it to me, told me they dont do it, so, i had to take a few days off to get my license renewed i got it renewed and took in my updated info and wouldnt you know it, im not getting told that there isnt any work, that my run has been given away, and that if i wanted to i could go on call but theres already 3 other drivers on call ahead of me because they have lost a few contracts and drivers are now short of work!  

I then preceeded to go to sara coleman, the owners daughter, who is in charge of payroll and asked for an roe or separation slip so that i could apply for ei, that was 5 days ago now and i sill havent gotten it, i havent heard via email or phone as to why, they wont even ackwnoledge that i work there.  I went in the day after i requested it from her and found out from dispatch who is about the only ones who do thier jobs that RICK MILLER the VP of the company told them not to dispatch me at all, on any loads. As of this date and time i have sent multiple emails to office staff requesting info or reasons as to why they are being childish and they are flat out ignoring me, trying to push me to quit!       Thats my problem so far with the company!

If you are a person seeing employment DO NOT GO TO WORK FOR DOUG COLEMAN TRUCKING if your a company or person trying to get things shipped, DO NOT ASK DOUG COLEMAN 90% of his drivers dont know how to drive a truck, yet alone back it up, i was driving beside a coleman driver from the windsor yard while i was going to the post office in london ontario and the idiot crossed the line and hit the side of my truck, i got up beside him and his feet were up on the dash, he was on cruise control not paying attention. DOUG COLEMAN TRUCKING IS A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY

one last thing i will add, i had another run in the afternoon that i would cover which put me at 14 hour days, from start to finish, the afternoon run would have me start at 2 and be done by 630 however the run doesnt pay you from 2, it starts at 330, ( time of first pick up) and pays until 630, the run itsself would take until 730-8 at night, then the inbetween runs were also not paid.. Never use this company nor work for this company unless you want to work for free.
